First off I want to say that the goal for acquiring full gear sets is not very high. I am just shooting for a damage decrease or something for the gear now cause I felt there is no real need to have all the gear unless there was an incentive. The April update is allowing people to eventually reach max level by playing and grinding exotics for their next boost to a piece of armor or weapon. There needs to be an incentive to gather all gear sets or there is no real need to. A shader when you have all pieces is cool but what does that really do for me? Doesn't help kill or not be killed by the enemies. Whats the benefit to getting a whole new raid set when people will more than likely infuse it to something else to power their old gear up?
Example:
All Kingsfall Raid gear (5% damage decrease from Taken) or (5% damage increase to Taken)
All Vault of Glass gear (5% damage decrease from Vex) or (5% damage increase to Vex)
All Crota's End gear (5% damage decrease from Hive) or (5% damage increase to Hive)
All Vanguard/Crucible/Faction gear (5% extra rep gains) This will stack for faction exotics rep boost.
Other Ideas:
All Raid gear: Faster reloading and carry more ammo for all weapons
This would become a trade off from variety but make the goal of striving for gear sets that much more desirable.

as someone who spent most of year 1 in a full set of VoG gear and most of year 2 in a full set of iron banner gear i'd be totally on board with this.

Nope. I like the freedom of wearing whatever pieces I want. -
No. Everyone will just complain about looking alike again
-
Maybe do it like monster hunter. Each gear set is made to combat specific monsters, and you can mix and match to get specific skills for whatever you want as opposed to only one purpose. Have gear slots for bonus points. Maybe you could end up doubling your roaming super time, but take a shit on your recovery and armor. Sure you could use spare shots and lighten/negate that loss, but your friend has multiple benefits (maybe not as good as double roaming time/attacks) and little to no drawbacks if they're smart. It'd make trying for specific gear that much more important, like reload gauntlets or extra shotty ammo chest piece.

Great idea
-
Yes I agree
-
Yeah, that would be cool.
-
Yes, that would be awesome
-
I think it would be good if it was similar to the division in a way, now just bear with me here, if you don't already know their gear sets have certain bonuses depending on how many items of that gear set you have equipped, if you did that with destiny you'd be able to mix and match items from certain gear sets and get specific bonuses depending on what you wanted but obviously to get a bigger bonus you'd have to wear a full gear set, I agree with what you are saying but in my opinion my idea might bring more variety to certain gear

No no no no no. You should never punish players for their choice of expression.
-
No that would dictate what we have to wear just like the VoG and crota days.
-
Don't like it. Would hurt gear variety. Maybe something like, "Get extra glimmer", or "Reveal spirit bloom"
-
Nah, what if the raid gear had a really useful bonus but one piece looked like aids in armor form?
-
Yes, but don't have crazy perks that makes everyone want to use it, maybe xp bonuses on killing certain enemies or glimmer bonuses.
-
I think it would be cool if they added a new tier of armor between legendary and exotic that held all strike specific gear. Then add full sets like malok and darkblade armor and add a perk bonus, something similar to an exotic effect so that if you were to wear the full set you would get an exotic perk in place of actually wearing an exotic peice. The only problem would be the lack of customization in order to gain access to the perk.
-
I'd love to see this. The typical routine for most of the game has been best armor + exotic. Why not incentivize people to complete an armor set? The bonus doesn't have to be anything spectacular, just enough to make it a debatable alternative to wearing an exotic.
-
It would have to be something that doesn't provide a drastic bonus for PvP (because that's all really Bungie cares about balancing).
-
Yup that would be awesome, excluding class items.
-
I agree it would give incentive to one get a headset and use it, only drawback is bungie likes variety so I doubt they would do it as most likely everyone would use the same sets for the same thing
-
Yes please. Though I can see a lot of mix match sets becoming rarer and everyone starts to look the same. Maybe make it so you can have all but one spot, so you can still wear an exotic. What I really want is exotic armor + weapon bonuses, or at least make some new exotics that are meant for each other. Example being like an arm cannon heavy that requires the arm exotic to use
-
like Diablo 3: you could even get partial bonuses for having 2/5 4/5 and then the big final bonus 5/5
-
Should be like cod:AW and give a fullset xp boost
-
set bonus for agility, recovery or armour maybe regain ammo over time but has less armor or agility get more recovery but less agility every bonus from a set should give you an advantage but lowers another ability instead but we will have something similiar with the new ornaments in RoI anyways a cool idea

Weapons shouldn't count. Armor barely changes playstyle so that's fine. Not weapons.
