First off I want to say that the goal for acquiring full gear sets is not very high. I am just shooting for a damage decrease or something for the gear now cause I felt there is no real need to have all the gear unless there was an incentive. The April update is allowing people to eventually reach max level by playing and grinding exotics for their next boost to a piece of armor or weapon. There needs to be an incentive to gather all gear sets or there is no real need to. A shader when you have all pieces is cool but what does that really do for me? Doesn't help kill or not be killed by the enemies. Whats the benefit to getting a whole new raid set when people will more than likely infuse it to something else to power their old gear up?
Example:
All Kingsfall Raid gear (5% damage decrease from Taken) or (5% damage increase to Taken)
All Vault of Glass gear (5% damage decrease from Vex) or (5% damage increase to Vex)
All Crota's End gear (5% damage decrease from Hive) or (5% damage increase to Hive)
All Vanguard/Crucible/Faction gear (5% extra rep gains) This will stack for faction exotics rep boost.
Other Ideas:
All Raid gear: Faster reloading and carry more ammo for all weapons
This would become a trade off from variety but make the goal of striving for gear sets that much more desirable.

Edited by Titan: 8/8/2016 6:50:38 PMOr you could wear at least 2-3 pieces of any gear sets for a bonus, that way you can still rock an exotic piece.
-
They should do this. A lot of other games do. My opinion is invalid as I'm not getting rise of iron though I need to GIT gud scrub lol
-
i wouldn't mind it if it were reputation gains tbh
-
One of the best things about the game is the variety in style and look, so it's a big no for me.

Full set of FWC armor let's you see the future.

Cayde-7
100 HOSTAGES held by HAMAS over 1 YEAR! - old
No! Full sets of something is ugly -
Edited by Maaaaart: 8/8/2016 6:03:13 PMYeah sure, other games do that so destiny should be more like other games By that I mean no way, in case you didn't read my tone of voice. Finally everyone looks different and if bungee do this we all go back to looking the same

Is this The Division?
-
Here's another idea: Wearing a full set of New Monarchy/Dead Orbit/Future War Cult armor (regular or spektar) boosts your reputation gains with them, stacking with the effect of their exotic class items.
-
I always thought set bonuses were going to be a thing. It would make a decent amount of sense in regards to raid gear though. Full set of Vex themed gear and take a percentile decrease in damage from the Vex maybe? Maybe there could be unique emotes and emblems/shaders that can only be unlocked with the aquisition of a full set, much like how they did it with the Ascendant shader and Taken emote. Small cosmetic bonuses that require players to hunt down all the pieces to a set.
-
Every full gear set should come with an emote. Even the old raid sets. Just like when you get full taken gear you get the taken emote. Yeah or nah?
-
I was surprised they didn't.
-
Anyone think full gear sets should add bonuses? Example: All Kingsfall Raid gear to include weapons (5 percent damage decrease from Taken)
-
Not a bonus, but maybe it should have a special visual effect like how the faction class exotics have their spawn thing.
-
No! Then there would be dps/tank/etc builds and a "need" or "must have" to get those sets if somehow one of the sets was a game changer and it would take bungie weeks to fix that while everyone abuses it. It would just steer destiny in a wrong direction when we know at its core it was meant to be simple ,fun, awesome, and legendary.
-
A cosmetic one or PVE centric, then certainly.
-
Minor bonuses like you suggest yea, and maybe not a full set, or an increasing effectiveness. 1 armor = 1% damage reduction 5 armor = 5-10% (whatever it gets decided as)
-
That could be cool, maybe having a full set from a faction or rep vendor would give a rep boost to fwc or vanguard or house of judgement, all depending on what gear set
-
I first read the title and was kind of excited to read your post, and then I came to the words Kingsfall Raid gear......
-
I've played plenty of games that have full set armor bonuses. Or partial set bonuses. In my opinion I think they should. And I think the full set armor bonus should mimic some of the exotic perks. Simply because I basically have to destroy my look if I want an exotic perk. Maybe make a set, get an additional grenade so it's like you're wearing armemantarium with having to wear armemantarium. You won't get the 'heavy' or 'special' ammo perks. But it'd be nice.
-
No. Unless you want people all looking that same again.
-
If you want that division has it. Even though it's boring as $hit
-
No, as it would be a step back to the days when you had to be rocking full raid or Iron Banner gear to hit max light and the tower was full of guardians all looking the same. I'm loving the Fashionborne, sorry, Bloodborne approach where the stat differences on armours are so negligible that there's nothing stopping me rocking a red velvet ball gown and top hat rather than a set of uber grimdark hunter armour. Don't see it working for Destiny but it's always nice to have more customisation options without it hurting your stats.

I like it where you get a bonus perk for a particular use (ex. Y1 House Judgment gear gave a bonus in POE).
