Okay so here's what I believe happened to Efrideet. In the new rise of Iron, artifacts are tokens of lost Iron Lords, but Efrideet doesn't have one. Many people believe that this is because she simply vanished, but what if Efrideet didn't have an Iron Lord token because she isn't considered an Iron lord anymore?
What if she somehow fell from the ranks and became unworthy of the title. In the live stream we were told that SIVA needs a host to control it, and that it's power is only as powerful as its host.
Now we know that the fallen couldn't have been responsible for the SIVA outbreak back in the time of the original Iron Lords because of one simple fact. That eight out of ten Iron Lords are dead. It takes a power possessed only by the darkness to steal a guardians light and actually kill them. But a guardian having this ability is not unheard of. (Dredgen Yor stealing Panahin's light in the crucible with thorn and killing him)
Now here's my theory: Efrideet turned against the guardians and the light during their prime for an unknown reason. Finding the power of SIVA she intended to use it against the guardians, but the Iron Lords intervened being protectors and also feeling guilty for their fallen comrade. They fought and fought, most of them died but in the end they sealed her away.
Yes they sealed her away, SIVA is powerless without a host and her addiction to the power of the machine was her downfall. She refused to escape without the technology allowing the Iron Lords to quarantine the SIVA. There she stayed for however much time has passed between then and present time in destiny.
After the house of devils lost their Kell to Saint-14, Their Archon priest, and Sepiks Prime. They stumbled upon SIVA and by extension Efrideet. As the majority of us know the Eliksni/Falle have always worshipped machines and since Efrideet has become one with the machine having it under control she would have been seen as a God to them. It's safe to assume that she was immediately made their Kell as it is not unheard of for an outsider to take the throne. (Queen of the reef Mara Sov)
As Variks states in "The Wolves of Mars" quest line "The Fallen cannot be this organized with no kell". And so with the power of SIVA and her newfound army she set out to finish what she had started. And so I believe she will be the final boss in the raid and we will receive her token as a prize for finishing the raid.
How she may die I am unsure, perhaps she is so entangled with SIVA that shutting down the machine itself may kill her. And although she still may have light left over she may have abandoned her ghost as Dredgen Yor did in "Ghost Fragment: thorn 3".
I believe we will be given her token because a guardian lost to the darkness is remembered as he/she was, as hinted at by Dredgen Yor when saying "If you do not forget that man, you will taint his legacy". And there you have it, let me know what you think.

In the vidoc there's a woman opening some type of box/ warming object. Could it be efrideet I don't know you might want to check it putt here's a lot of hints to it to like when Saladin pops his ghost out to look at old photos of his friends and I think I counted eight counting saladman and there's ten iron lords so check it out you might like it

Edited by Daggarnaut: 8/16/2016 11:55:09 PMWell looking a the vidoc, there might be something to this theory.
I am referring 55 seconds in the trailer.
Good theory but GameInformer directly said the entity leading the SIVA is someone we have already met.
-
Game informer did an interview with several of the writers today, they talked about her i won't spoil it but there is information about her and her role in the DLC. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2016/08/12/an-exclusive-roundtable-with-destiny-rise-of-irons-story-team.aspx

Edited by Cosmos Guardian: 8/12/2016 2:11:33 PMEfrifeet is an Exo.

But Efrideet's Eye...

Efrideet Perfected sounds pretty cool.

Edited by Eiffiks: 8/10/2016 3:28:08 PMI'd add a bit more 'speculations' to her fall, trying to find out the 'unknown' reason. Maybe she wasn't the one controlling Siva originally, but as being an exo, SIVA managed to infect her, and turned it into a 'if they kill me, they will destroy you too'. This could have happened in many ways,. The most simple one (speculations x 2000):
The iron lords go to investigate, and get surprised by SIVA and whatever minions she has. Fighting, despair, retreat. SIVA notices one IRON Lord (not sure if more are) is an exo, and have its forces focus on her, so she gets isolated and can't pull back with the rest. Separated from her ghost somehow, she gets severely injured and is taken prisonner. She's brought to SIVA, which sees an incredible opportunity in this exo body, a machine. SIVA can corrupt machines or enhanced physical bodies with mechanical components.... So it either: - offers her a deal: life, but SIVA enhanced, entangled, becoming one with it: - or just seize the opportunity to contaminate her and put her in front of the fact: If your friends destroy me, you will be no more. Enhanced Efrideet is there, and so is the bond between her and SIVA. Then back to your theory.
Edit: Felwinter's Lie could then be that he brought the message to the tower/Saladdin? he had killed corrupted Efrideet (with his shotgun?), while she had also in fact been sealed with SIVA inside the 'jail'. Not sure where the rest dies though.

Edited by Guardian,Archon Of Light: 8/9/2016 3:35:16 PMYou do know any Kell, Archon or Prime Servitor can also control SIVA right? Just because Saint 14 killed A Kell, doesn't mean the Devils didn't immediately replace him. Like Skolas immediately replaced the HOW Kell that was killed in the reef wars. Any Vandal or Captain can morph into a Kell from extra ether and lead there house. I know a corrupted guardian would be a cool twist, but I don't see it in an Iron Lord, Dredgen Yor was not an Iron Lord!!!
-
My theory, and I'm sure I'm not the first to suggest somethings like this: When the 9 iron lords (other than salad fingers, of course, because Felwinter lied to him about something so he wouldnt be in the last battle and could survive to train more iron lords) sacrificed themselves to lock SIVA away, they killed whoever the dark/evil host was at that time, but had to become light/good hosts themselves and were transformed by SIVA. So these powerful guardians became giant transcendent half-machine "gods" called The Nine, which may exist beyond the reef, or maybe in another plane of existence than the material world (kinda like the hive/taken throne worlds). This could explain how they can infuse light and special abilities into ordinary weapons and armor to make them exotic, a mix of the light from powerful guardians and SIVA transformative tech. Evidence: The Game Informer dudes, after talking to the story team, said that the SIVA tech "helped enable the great expansion of humanity's golden age" and "is actually this evolution of the matter encryption technology of engrams - but on a much larger scale". So... Highly-evolved matter encryption technology (SIVA) + the light of 9 of the most powerful guardians ever = The Nine --> exotic gear and engrams, gifted to new guardians from the original Iron Lords (through Zur, because they can't get to us for whatever reason), in exchange for strange coins (maybe contain golden age tech useful for exotic matter encryption? I donno). Thoughts?

So, dead honest question here. While I was reading through the latest weekly update, something caught my eye regarding our dear friend Lord Saladin and his return to the tower to keep us company while Bungie is at gamescom. This truly intrigued me, and also halfway falls in line with a bit of your theory here. In the update there is a line that reads
The sole surviving Iron Lord will keep the fires burning while we’re away.
The key thing to take from that quote is "sole surviving Iron Lord". I don't know if that is just a slip up, seeing as how it is never actually stated whether Efrideet is dead, alive, or as your theory puts, gone mad with SIVA, or if maybe that it is actually hinting at something deeper. If it is hinting at something deeper, it could mean one of three things as I see it. -One: -Efrideet is dead -Two: -Efrideet is, as of the time line of RoI, no longer an Iron Lord, and has gone rogue -Three: -Efrideet is in fact some way linked to SIVA in a much more.... Drastic?... way than we think, aligning with your theory a bit further. Well Guardians? What do you think? Please feel free to add or suggest to this. I myself am for now going to be reading up on the Grimoire and associated weapons/armor with our mysterious friend to try and dig up something more on her. Hopefully I'll find something substantial. It's always the tiny, inconspicuous details, you know?
-
His name was Merlyn and his artifact is a sword.
-
I'd like to think so but then I realize it's Bungie. Mark my words the raid boss going to be an over sized shank xD
-
Or perhaps she is alive and in hiding or we will fight her in the raid.
-
Umm that's a bit far off
-
Holy crap that was amazing i love it i really think they should out some comix or books an u should write some no bs that was good
-
People keep talking about efrideet but what about finnala? Ot deidris? Or tormod?
-
With what little information we have on SIVA this is actually a plausible theory. At least you're not saying Efrideet is the Exo Stranger
-
I thought it was Thalor who had their light destroyed by Thorn.
-
I know you didn't just try to steal the Efrideet host theory from My Name is Byf. I heard him mention this a week ago.
-
Someone watched My Name Is Byf huh
-
May be she thought she could control SIVA and use it for good but her ghosts died and she was corrupted by it so the new SIVA guardian wanted more power and the only place to get it was The City and all the guardians so the Iron Lords stepped in and stopped it but at the cost of 8 Lords. And so many years later the Fallen find her and SIVA in look for a new kell, the she would be a god. This will lead to the Rise of Iron we see today in which we must stop SIVA. But the Iron lord that was taken would probably be long dead dew to the loss of her light if any thing she is just a shell.
-
I think that this is a very credible storyline, because don't forget that part of the original synopsis said "find out what happened to the Iron Lords"
-
I swear you just spoiled the story for everyone. Thanks though I like the theory
-
There's a chance the 9th Artifact that Bungie did not reveal might be Efrideet's.
-
Wow. It isn't a 10 min long youtube video where a loud dude talks about nothing for 9 mins, then pulls a not-very-plausible theory out his ass for 1min. I may actually read this when I get home from work. 10/10 not click bait.
