I have 2 people on my friends list that openly use a lagswitch, even in regular crucible. They've been using it since before TTK. Neither has been banned a single time. GG, Bungie.

 • Why are you friends with people who cheat?

 • I befriended them to see if they would ever get banned. Not surprised.

 • What is lagswitching and how does someone do it on purpose? It's more than just having a bad connection, right?

 • Lagswitching is deliberately causing the game to lag, which, due to how some games (like Destiny and the older Halo games) handle lag, gives you an advantage. The reason it's called "lagswitching" is because of an infamous video from years ago (like 2005-2006) that demonstrated how to hook up a router to a light switch, which, when flipped, would make the game lag. It can be hard to tell if someone is doing it or not, but possible signs include: -the game starting to lag when the enemy team is losing (someone on the losing team may be trying to turn it around) -the game lagging when encountering a specific player and no one else (they could be hitting their switch to make sure they kill you before you kill them) -the game goes into standby for your team and not the other (they could do this to take an objective or wipe your team without resistance)

 • No shit. Thanks for the detailed history. I've heard that term thrown around, but never knew what it meant. I'll keep my eye out for the signs. I could see cheaters turning on a couple Wi-Fi devices to drain their bandwidth on purpose, if they don't have an actual lag switch. All I know is I feel so self conscious when I go red bar. I take myself out, until my connection improves.

 •
-the game goes into standby for your team and not the other (they could do this to take an objective or wipe your team without resistance)
Had a few games like that in halo 4. One memorable game is when we were about to win a CTF match when my whole team went blackscreen and the other team capped the flag 3 times while we couldn't do anything.
