They don't need to confirm it.
It's right there on the page. Asterisked items are exclusives until at least 2017.
And for the record it might be...and likely [i]is[/i]-Sony that is holding them to this.

When the text said "at least fall 2016" one day, then says 2017 the next, without any kind of communication to the players...yeah, they do need to confirm it.

I don't really believe someone would pick a console based on that. It just seems petty. I would really like to know how much it was worth for bungie ... I guess a kid who has no technological leanings and is picking up a console for a specific game might choose that way but that person's friends probably already have one or the other. Really doesn't matter I think. It's mainly annoying to me not because I need the content but because it spams the forums every now and the with all the angry xbl players out there.

And leave money on the table? Why do so many gamers not realize everyone is in it for the money?

They could sell all of that content to everyone for some small amount per player and it may come close to what they got from Sony...
