I'm really not sure if I should get it or not (Xbox One).
I've played through Dark Souls a few times and am currently on NG+ #4 for Dark Souls III.
I don't want to waste my money if it's not that good, but I don't know if I'll like it or not even though many don't.
Reviews of this game are extremely mixed, and that is why I came here.
EDIT: The game has been purchased. Your feedback and opinions are still welcomed. Hopefully I don't find it to be a waste of $40...
EDIT: Getting away from the start of the game and getting used to how it plays, I find myself really enjoying the game. =)

Idk. I have played some of the first and second, and from my experience the first is much better. Still an enjoyable game however.

Edited by BFGesus: 8/22/2016 5:36:56 PMDS2 is garbage in the pvp aspect. You will experience just how shitty the hit boxes are and how the region cross-play option doesn't do anything. This is the only souls game I played that I experienced a modder in pvp. Dude was literally throwing a stream of corrosive urns at me, even during the backstab animation. It took a group of me and three other people to kill him and guess what? He's still not banned! I've played all the games and got all the achievements. Check my steam profile "hellknightinflames". The dark souls casuals here will wildly praise this game without giving any examples to back it up. P.s. Sorry you spent $40 on this trash. I got it for $15 on a sale and I still feel kind of ripped off.

A very solid game imo.
-
It's the best of the series. So yes you should buy it.

Edited by EL_JEFE: 8/24/2016 3:32:56 PMThat game makes me to -blam!-ing cry myself to sleep. I played and completed all the othe dark souls games and this is the one that is actually quite unfair. Nasty hit detection, no actual poise, and you pretty much have to level adaptability for your roll to have more than -10 i frames. The enemies are not even that hard to predict or learn, they just have a bunch of hyperarmor and come in multiples of 9 billion.
-
Where did you buy it for $40? I can get it for $26 CAD (about $30 with tax) on Amazon right now.
-
Dude great choice in buying the game. I recently did the same thing after playing Dark Souls 3 and loved it. The game will seriously feel like it never ends because of all the DLC included, it's a great deal for the amount of content you get.
-
Since you liked DS? I don't see why you wouldn't. It's not like playing and loving Bloodborne and going backwards...
-
Love DS2
-
I got the Xbox equivalent of a platinum trophy on it for both 360 and Xbox One. It's probably my favorite game in the series, although I do also love Dark Souls 1 a great deal.
-
I just recently started playing it and found it pretty hard to get used to it. I've played Dark souls and Dark souls 3 but for some reason found this game really weird to get used to.
-
It's a game that grows on you. It has a ton of flaws, but there's still a solid game there.
-
If you are s fan buy it, if not, it likely won't be the game that changes your mind.
-
Absolutely
-
Best Pvp, too bad I can never find any fight clubs anymore. :,(
-
Glad you bought it. Best Souls game.
-
Very. Best PVP of any souls game
-
You know that's a good question, anyway answer below
I bought it for 20 dollars on sale t(-_-t)
-
It's better than 3, IMO. The first Dark Souls is still the king, though.
-
#2 is a bit of an odd man out in comparison to the design style of demons souls, and dark 1 and 3. However if you stop trying to compare it to the original (or 3 or whatever your first souls game was, they are almost always people's favorites) you will find that it's actually a great game in its own right. It a little slower in pace, a little more deliberate and punishing (estis takes much longer to heal for example) but it's a fantastic game, with a ludicrous amount of possibilities for builds, and the best NG+ in a souls game to date.

I think I would have got into it if it didn't have the dark souls title. Feels like an old PS3 rpg I'd play, but since it has the souls name and feels completely different I couldn't do it.
-
you paid $40? i got mines from gamestop Thursday and it was $18
-
It's different from the other souls games; basically the product of a corporate mind looking in on Miyazaki's work and saying, "How can we sell another one of these to his fans, without his help?" (He was there, but not in his usual position as project lead.) In my opinion it fails to create an adventure that feels as grandiose as the other games, and it is the easiest of the series with the cheapest difficulty. However it has the best customization, the best multiplayer scene (subjectively,) and plenty of content.

It's worth it, but it.

You'll like it. It definitely isn't the best Dark Souls but it is a very good game.
