And it's by far the best way I have been able to read into the broken ties of the story! It told me everything from beginning to end on what has been told via grimoire cards to things bungie will fill us in on to things that are still in question yet people have their own fan-fictions on already. By far the best read all month long. Bungie please keep up the good work and continue filling these holes in this amazing storyline. Hope you Guardians enjoy these articles.
Edit 1: Needless to say this article is now trending haha! I'm glad everyone is enjoying this backstory. I have read it all and I really hope that Bungie expands more on this story and the holes that lie within it all.
Edit 2: I have read a good portion of comments and how people are annoyed at the fact that some outer source had to tell this story. I can agree with that but at the same time I wouldn't want a storybook implanted in the game to tell you these things. I want to play out the Collapse. I want to play out the battle of Twilight Gap. I want to play these events instead of reading an article. And I probably won't be able to play them but my guardian might be able to relive them or even better find a way to go back in time and reverse history. I'm telling you this storyline has potential out the butthole. Let's hear your fan-fictions!!
Edit 3: I see that people would prefer to not have to read the story of the game outside the game itself. I can understand that but also there are a lot of games that have a hidden storytelling and RPG'S especially fall victim to these categories. I'm someone who runs to where the cursor is and picks up the mission and turn it in without reading the essay that they have in the mission description within that bounty. I miss out on a lot of the story because I have things I want to do. I want to get to the action. I wanna shoot the aliens. Not read hours of text when I can easily do that in my off hours/work (I work in a job that doesn't really require extensive attention). But I could probably also agree that there should be a in game grimoire/story book on the previous events that took place before "Destiny"

Once again proving that Destiny does indeed have a story. A badly executed one, yes, but nonetheless.
-
They seem to ignore the grimoire card from Rasputin that says that he was the one that kept the Traveller from leaving us.

This is great thanks

Bump please

Love this.

Love Destiny, and reading this made me love it even more. Also, who's hoping we eventually fight an evil Guardian?

Awesome post. I love the deep stories. And it's not like Bungie's presentation is new. Bungie's been playing like this forever. Look at Halo, and the incredible story that you almost certainly missed completely unless you were looking for it specifically. And even if you caught pieces they meant nothing on their own without the spider web of context provided by the others. And you only got seconds to read them. If you wanted another shot at seeing it you had to restart the level. The story of Mendicant Bias is one that most Halo fans don't even know exists. It's not perfect, but At least now we have the grimoire to centralize the info. I appreciate the depth it provides and the distance they've come. Not there yet, but getting better.

Awesome. Love it that someone took the time to summarize what we know so far. Thanks for posting.

Cool, glad after 2 years I now know the story! Good read! They really need to expand on this as it's a Damn cool story!
-
Great find - enjoyed the read - forwarded link to some buddies - can't wait for update

Thanks for posting the article link! I used to to be a daily Destiny player, but every time I log in I'm quickly reminded of why I stopped. Nothing worth doing that hasn't been done so many times. I've been trying to get hyped for Rise of Iron, this article helped a little.

Bump please.

Only had time to read a little bit. Awesome. WHY WASN'T THIS IN THE STORY?!?! WHY DO I NEED TO READ AN ARTICLE 2 YEARS AFTER THE GAMES RELEASE TO FULLY UNDERSTAND THE PLOT?!?!
-
I would love to play a game that takes place during the whirlwind.
-
does that mean if Eris dies, she's dead dead since she no longer has a ghost. Where as when we die (mostly dead) our ghost brings us back? The sceen where she gets the sword crystal takes on a whole new meaning.

Read this yesterday... Great read... I understand so much more about things that are referred to in the game, things that have happened, things that will be explained more in later additions to the game and things that are currently going on. Bungie is playing the long game here... And I mean loooong game... They need to have multiple story lines for the future and reading it all in one place is nice to have. I mean halo had tons of outside source material to read too... I appreciate this. Like someone mentioned... It would be awesome to have access to these stories and histories in the speakers library... But non-the-less, I feel after reading this that I have a lot more clarity on things and am even more pumped for the rise of iron and D2
