And it's by far the best way I have been able to read into the broken ties of the story! It told me everything from beginning to end on what has been told via grimoire cards to things bungie will fill us in on to things that are still in question yet people have their own fan-fictions on already. By far the best read all month long. Bungie please keep up the good work and continue filling these holes in this amazing storyline. Hope you Guardians enjoy these articles.
Edit 1: Needless to say this article is now trending haha! I'm glad everyone is enjoying this backstory. I have read it all and I really hope that Bungie expands more on this story and the holes that lie within it all.
Edit 2: I have read a good portion of comments and how people are annoyed at the fact that some outer source had to tell this story. I can agree with that but at the same time I wouldn't want a storybook implanted in the game to tell you these things. I want to play out the Collapse. I want to play out the battle of Twilight Gap. I want to play these events instead of reading an article. And I probably won't be able to play them but my guardian might be able to relive them or even better find a way to go back in time and reverse history. I'm telling you this storyline has potential out the butthole. Let's hear your fan-fictions!!
Edit 3: I see that people would prefer to not have to read the story of the game outside the game itself. I can understand that but also there are a lot of games that have a hidden storytelling and RPG'S especially fall victim to these categories. I'm someone who runs to where the cursor is and picks up the mission and turn it in without reading the essay that they have in the mission description within that bounty. I miss out on a lot of the story because I have things I want to do. I want to get to the action. I wanna shoot the aliens. Not read hours of text when I can easily do that in my off hours/work (I work in a job that doesn't really require extensive attention). But I could probably also agree that there should be a in game grimoire/story book on the previous events that took place before "Destiny"

Great read, really just clarified the general story that I knew, transforming it from a jumbled mess of memories, facts, and missions into a coherent story.

Bump for later

Can someone bump

There's so much potential, but at this moment Pokémon red/blue on Gameboy had a better story than destiny.

As for the Traveler making a stand.... I think that all can be said for sure is that this whole thing is murky at best. Rasputin definitely considered attacking the Traveler to force it to stay, and the Traveler definitely did put up a fight either willingly or under coercion. The problem here is that it's not 100% clear if Rasputin went through with his plan to force the Traveler to fight or not, or if the Traveler really did decide to stand its ground and fight the Darkness. Either way I look at this there is an element of doubt due to the way the grimoire cards are written.

I have never understood why there is alot of in depth information and stories in the grimoire cards but not in the main story quests??? Good post, thanks for the link to the article

Edited by Stormhawk118: 8/25/2016 8:35:27 PMlol to people that think the traveler is evil -Wall of text-
" One of the artificially intelligent warminds, called Rasputin, detects the Darkness’ impending arrival, and rather than be utterly destroyed, shuts itself down in the hopes of being awoken later, as it computes there is no way to successfully combat the current threat. In a heroic last stand that defies its previous encounters with the Darkness, the Traveler fights back rather than abandoning humanity. It expends its own enigmatic internal energy, called Light, to push away the Darkness. " -Rasputin shut itself down before the traveler gave most of its energy to stop the darkness, rasputin *did not* shoot at the traveler, or threaten it, Rasputin considered it as an option, but never acted on it. " Through its sacrifice, the Traveler manages to drive off the Darkness, but in so doing, the Traveler is left nearly inert and mostly powerless." " the Traveler is mostly powerless, but not entirely. Even as it falls inert, it sends off tiny fragments of itself called Ghosts, with a mission to track down people of great strength, discipline, and intelligence that can be revived and made to protect humanity. " -Everything the traveler has done since it arrived was for the good of humanity, and the greater good of all life in the universe
I thought Shaxx designed the crucible, after the tragedy that was the twilight gap to hone the skills and ready themselves for another attack so mass loss will not exist again within the walls , not after the battle of the six front because there weren't enough guardians yet

Hey, thank you for posting this! I just spent the last hour reading that article. That article is awesome and renewed my interest in Destiny's lore. I've still got to finish my Grimoire. Might work on it tonight.

Awesome just got done reading it thanks

Don't put "trending" in your edits, people don't like that. Lol. On a serious note, I love the backstory, but why can't it be in game?

Bump for later?
