And it's by far the best way I have been able to read into the broken ties of the story! It told me everything from beginning to end on what has been told via grimoire cards to things bungie will fill us in on to things that are still in question yet people have their own fan-fictions on already. By far the best read all month long. Bungie please keep up the good work and continue filling these holes in this amazing storyline. Hope you Guardians enjoy these articles.
Edit 1: Needless to say this article is now trending haha! I'm glad everyone is enjoying this backstory. I have read it all and I really hope that Bungie expands more on this story and the holes that lie within it all.
Edit 2: I have read a good portion of comments and how people are annoyed at the fact that some outer source had to tell this story. I can agree with that but at the same time I wouldn't want a storybook implanted in the game to tell you these things. I want to play out the Collapse. I want to play out the battle of Twilight Gap. I want to play these events instead of reading an article. And I probably won't be able to play them but my guardian might be able to relive them or even better find a way to go back in time and reverse history. I'm telling you this storyline has potential out the butthole. Let's hear your fan-fictions!!
Edit 3: I see that people would prefer to not have to read the story of the game outside the game itself. I can understand that but also there are a lot of games that have a hidden storytelling and RPG'S especially fall victim to these categories. I'm someone who runs to where the cursor is and picks up the mission and turn it in without reading the essay that they have in the mission description within that bounty. I miss out on a lot of the story because I have things I want to do. I want to get to the action. I wanna shoot the aliens. Not read hours of text when I can easily do that in my off hours/work (I work in a job that doesn't really require extensive attention). But I could probably also agree that there should be a in game grimoire/story book on the previous events that took place before "Destiny"

Now, this is a good post. Great work/find.

That's brilliant. Really funny and informative, but keeping it short too! (Relatively anyway lol)
-
Very grateful for this, will help move this work day along quite well. Thx

That was awesome. I just missed my whole college class while reading that, but it was worth it. xD

Bump for later

Edited by REVIVE PHARMER: 8/26/2016 4:53:51 AM100% of this can be found in the Grimior cards. Not only did the not answer any looming questions, they skipped over about 3/4 of the plot in the game. Vex? Cabal? Human role in the propagation of the dark age? Rasputin? Noob article. 0 new information. 1/10 rating.
disappointed
I actually started reading this last night, it's a good breakdown of the story so far
-
Bump, lots of cool info in there. Begs the question why most, or even some of this isn't in the actual game though. Thanks for sharing!
-
HEY LOOK! Plot points that vaguely outline the origin story of the 3 races available to us, that Kotaku said Bungie removed from the original game that will given to us later...... Interesting......... Too bad the original game turned into this incoherent, giant, confusing, cluster -blam!-. Here's to hoping we eventually get the game we were promised years ago. #grimoire_in_game
-
All they have to do now is implement rich lore such as this into the game itself, and present it with an enjoyable and elegant story. If we're lucky, that's exactly what they're doing for Destiny 2 right now.
-
So Bungie is now stating that the traveler didn't try to abandon us? I could have sworn people said the traveler did try to abandon us and rasputin stopped it
-
Maybe in Destiny 2 there will actually be an in-game story. *Reads "A rich cinematic experience" on the back of the box Excuse me, I must go fantasize what could've been...
-
Dear Bungie, Please put the game's story in the actual game. The cards are pure bleh. You're welcome. Yours truly, Everybody PS: We know you know that we know you guys are just being cheap and lazy so do what we ask and pay James Earl Jones a million dollars to read all these cards.

Sigh still one huge planetary sized plot hole that needs to be filled based on this article. If Oryx and Crota aren't the darkness, who or what defeated the Traveler and caused the collapse? According to this article they came much later. And post collapse where did they go? And if this "Darkness" is so powerful, why has it not defeated other civilizations in the past? We are led to believe that Oryx and his kind have been responsible for destroying all those other civilizations.

Great breakdown of the story....it's just a shame only about 5% of it has been conveyed in the actual game.
INB4 Grimoire Warriors
-
THAT WAS TOO MUCH i cant wait to see how this game unravels over the next 7 and a half years,
-
The Traveler didn't actually try to leave us is all I got. It says the Traveler fought the Darkness to a standstill and then went "mostly inert" and sent out ghosts. So Rasputin didn't attack the Traveler to make it stay apparently.

Cool, thanks!

Please bump

Bump for later?
