The story barely makes sense in the context of the rest of the series, I can't imagine how incoherent it would be without playing the other games), it would [b]still[/b] be a bad story with poor gameplay. I could probably rant for 10-15 minutes straight about why Halo 5's campaign is straight up garbage, assuming I hadn't deliberately forgotten half of it already. Some things aren't worth remembering.
