About Servitors

I've recently been thinking about the lore surrounding the Fallen and I've come across a couple of things that don't seem to make sense about Servitors. I understand that Servitors are machines built in the Travellers image to process matter into the Ether which the Fallen thrive on, and that the Servitors of a Fallen House come under the command of a Prime Servitors, operating in symbiosis with an Archon. What I don't understand is, if the Fallen build the Servitors and Prime Servitors, why do they then revere them as Gods and Commanders? It makes no sense to me for any race to build a machine which they then become subservient to. Why not just build the machine to manufacture Ether but without any form of intelligence? Furthermore, if they build the Servitors and Prime Servitors in the image of the Traveller, having been blessed by it prior to us, what exactly was it that was keeping them alive prior to the Traveller coming to them? Where did they get their Ether from in the time before?

  • My guess is that because the materials to rebuild Primes are very scarce in our system that they revere them as God-like. I assume the water on the Eliksni world was filled with Ether instead of Oxygen.
