The strangest thing about it is that bungie has done many questionable things to prolong gameplay but adding the LENGTHY story to the game ( in short bursts, here and there) never occurred to them. It certainly could have made the initial pve leveling process a lot more enjoyable, made the rpg element more substantial and the game longer. For those players who weren't interested in lengthy story segments a simple "skip" button would have solved the problem.
