On occasion, I like to indulge my horror lust with late night YouTube binges on spoopy subjects. These tend to be about either paranormal stuff, or the depths of human depravity with tales from the Dark Web, human experimentation, generally odd or otherwise disturbing videos, etc.
So I'm curious, gang: which scares you more shitless? Videos of ghost sightings and muttered threats in the dark? Or the sort of stuff you might find in an old man's cellar in the middle of nowhere?
Maybe something else entirely. Alas, I can't edit the poll for that.

Edited by Space: 8/31/2016 10:03:27 PMIf any of you are interested in some spoopy urban exploration vids here you go. https://youtu.be/DACmFvPJ6WQ https://youtu.be/IMBRB635080 https://youtu.be/pKpNkBGKCOk Don't bother with Carnage and exploring with john, they use clickbait and a lot of the videos are fake.

Greatest fear: Sharks. Anything in the water, basically, but most definitely sharks. Scariest 'effing thing I can think of - god they look horrible... Freakin demons, with those protruding jaws, those teeth, those dead, black eyes. I would die from shear panic and a heart attack before it ever got me. I'm fascinated by the water, especially oceans and what all could be down there, but wow is it scary. So I'd say real stuff is way scarier, HOWEVER, if by chance something truly paranormal were to happen...and we're talkin' on an exorcist/demonic kinda level, then I'd probably go completely insane. The thought of it doesn't actually scare me so much, though, probably because it's so improbable, and because my general attitude about that stuff is that there wouldn't be anything I could do about it anyway, so what will be will be. -
Sharks.... Sharks are scary man

The paranormal is a good thing for getting me creeped out a bit, but I don't really believe in ghosts so I wouldn't say I'm too scared of it. People, such as serial killers, are a very real thing and can get you at anytime. Likely without even knowing who got you without it being too late.
-
The malicious/illegal. Haven't had any paranormal episodes that i can think of to make me scared. The idea that living people though can do such heinous things bothers me a lot.
-
Just watch the idiots trying to be president scares me enuff. This world is screwed.

As someone with an interest in human psychology, the shit that drives a human to do insanely depraved shit is both fascinating and terrifying.
-
Both I'd say. I usually try to stay away from that kind of stuff because once it gets in my head I can't stop thinking about it for days and my imagination makes it warp and get much, much worse. I realize it's mainly just in my head, that paranormal creatures aren't real, and that the chance of some horrifying fate befalling me are slim, but I end up scaring myself if left alone with my thoughts too long.
-
The paranormal scares me more because it's all about what I don't know. I don't believe in ghosts but thinking that maybe there's something out there that I don't know about can make me uneasy. With the malicious, I know that they're human like me and I know what they're capable of.

If the paranormal were real, then the paranormal.

Paranormal has gone drab with anything possible used and drawn out
Lets take Zombies for instance. They have been dried out, put through a ringer, and freeze dried but there are still zombie movies, tv shows, and video games being pumped out full steam. It has lost any scary quality and now people just use it as an way to imagine themselves being badass, rather than... you know, becoming a zombie.
However there seems to be no limit to the atrocities a human can commit. This is why The Joker is arguably the best villain of all time. No powers, no amazing skills. Just a psychopath with no respect for human life and he thinks all of existence is just one big joke.

Well I'm staying a night at the villisca axe murder house in October, so I'm sure my opinion will sway after that night. I hope at least, I want to see something for sure.

I'm much more afraid of what humans do to each other all of the time than what may be a ghost of a person (but more than likely is nothing).
