It's weird. Not sure how matchmaking is setup but I have a friend I play with quite often and is lessor skilled in pvp. What I notice is if he is the fire team leader, fire team is just the two of us, matches are easier for me. If I am fire team leader matches are similar for me when I queue solo and he does worse. This was also true when I play with another friend who is much better than me. Maybe I'm just tripping but this seems to be fairly consistent. I would play with friends any way.
