You are right about the connection but wrong about the player skill. When you are in a full fireteam your teams average combat rating is what determines who you play. So let's say 5 of your teammates are .9 kd and one teammate is 2.0 kd. Your average team kd is 1.08. So your enemy's will likely be around this 1.08 kd which is not far from a .9 kd so you won't notice any difference. However your 2.0 kd teammate will be far superior to everyone in the lobby and will have the easiest games of his life racking up kills and carrying the team which will likely bring your team the win. I have experimented with this in the last three iron banners. I have a 1.25 average kd and most of my friends are better than me with a 1.75+ kd. When I play iron banner with them I get destroyed because the average team kd and skill is usually 2.0+. But if I pick up a bunch of randoms off the forum to Create a fireteam and all of their kds at at or below 1.0 I have the best games ever and am top of the leader board every game. Skill is still the primary factor for matchmaking and winning games.

I don't agree man.....your friend's high k/d's are probably mostly, because they have specific "Bungie Connections" and they mostly may play normally.....also you have to have some skills, but who hasn't , complaining on this forum ;) I've played Crucible more then 35 days and before Halo's and 12 years CoD's every day, gamebattles........ Don't play any other games then those. Have done this research already back in 2007 on CoD 4 and Halo 3. This is why in Destiny i watch every match closely. Example 1: When i'm playing against players with k/d's above 2 i don't stand a chance. You know why? 1. I mostly see them too late on my screen or they appear when i'm almost dead. So at the moment i see them, i'm already damaged for 60-80% 2. When i see them earlier, my bullets do almost no damage. But when they start shooting back at me with the same weapon (example: Doctrine), then it feels like a machine gun is shooting at me and my life-bar goes down that fast. Example 2: Last Iron Banner i played with 5 another players, which are so new to Destiny, that they even can't do Oryx normal........ 1. First couple of matches i was making around 50% kills of the whole team and we won everything. 2. One player left and another player joined (also noob). Suddenly i played 2-15 and couldn't make a kill. Those noobs all had more kills then me. We lost almost every match. Example 3: Also last Iron Banner i played with my Clan that has an average around 1.5. There are German, Swiss and Dutch (me) players....and we won almost everything.......untill one player left and the other player joined, instead. Suddenly every match somebody else got kills and the players which got kills before, couldn't get any kills or got much less kills. And we lost 4 of the 5 matches, too. There were also days that i joined them and i was the only one who could make kills. After a few matches, they all quit :) How do you explain that? Also here you can see the difference in my results between 2 different internet providers/ connections: http://imgur.com/a/xxVxS
