Hey Bungie, don't even think about resetting and making us start new Guardians in Destiny 2

The writers at Forbes are idiots to suggest it. If you're going to make us start over then you need to drop the ranking up and progression completely and turn this into a Halo type experience. If we're going to grind, progress and build our guardians over multiple paid expansions then you need to let us continue with our Guardians we're investing all this time into. Honestly the fact that these writers at Forbes are suggesting a reset is complete crap. If you want a fresh start you can delete and make a new Guardian any time you want. Don't force that bs on others who are invested in their Guardians. Thank-you

    • I agree with this and I do believe Bungie has mentioned several times that our progress will carry forward, although I have no link to back this up. If they did decide to reset our character's I wouldn't be as disappointed as many others. The first few months of vanilla destiny were some of the best. Starting fresh with new character and working my way up from the bottom is part of the enjoyment for me. Many of us have thousands of hours invested, last time I checked I had around 45 days myself, and we don't want that wasted, but it's a game, they exist to waste time, and Destiny has done a great job of that for me. I am getting super psyched for Rise of Iron!

Solution-Add 2-3 character slots, and add enough new class/race stuff for us to WANT to make new characters, and maybe a different storyline for old and new guardians, no matter what they do, I'm sure I'll love it.

    • What most people are failing to understand is that Destiny is not just like any other game where progress doesn't matter once the game is over since Destiny is built by the memories of your first time completing your first vault of glass or the first time that you got the full raid gear which I'm pretty sure took a lot of hours. You can't just delete our characters as they are what make Destiny, Destiny. Our characters tell a story, a story of how you progressed and the times where you made friends to accomplish something like perhaps the raid or trials of osiris. It would really be heartbreaking to see the character we made since day 1 just suddenly be considered useless. I really doubt Bungie would make us make new characters but I'm sure they will carry many things over at the very least.

Here the problem: The people who want to say this game is just an FPS, tell me what FPS makes weapons/gear irrelevant during a current installment? Meaning, if we are in Destiny 1, and if this were just an FPS, then ALL - EVERY SINGLE piece of weapons/armor - should be relevant. Your Fatbringer should be at current max level, etc. During the life cycle of say, CoD game X in the series, there will be DLC and add on stuff. But during the full life cycle until the next installment of that CoD line comes out, ALL of your gear is relevant. So going by that logic, why do I not have my full arsenal at full current max? We're still in Destiny 1, where's the rest of my Destiny 1 gear? "Year 2" doesn't mean shit, we're still in Destiny 1. *crickets* This game is more than just a flat FPS, however it is not a true MMO. Go play a true MMO then come back if you are unsure of how Destiny is not analogous to a full blown MMO (no, a bunch of people merely online at once is not an MMO, sorry, that's just called multiplayer online). What this game is, is 95% FPS with about 4% RPG and 1% MMO. Juuuuuuuuust enough RPG and MMO to make it to where it's not so cut and dry like a regular FPS would be. This isn't Halo, Mass Effect or CoD. If players want to keep their gear for 10 years, so what? Seriously, who are you to decide what I equip and why? (Using generic form of "you" from here on out) You're no one, that's who. You're an anonymous voice on the internet with no weight that I should take into consideration on how I want to play my characters in Destiny. These control freaks that want to tell people "I don't want to see Fatebringer ever again" can fuq right off. Worry about what you play with, don't worry about what I play with. Also, can we knock it off with the self serving, fake as hell bullshit where some people are throwing out the ol' self righteous arguments about "it's good for the game". That's becoming as laughable as everyone throwing the word "balance" around to justify their ridiculous nerf requests. "Oh you don't think shotguns should undergo a 10th nerf? You must not want BALANCE!" as though that is supposed to shame me into submission. The people who want a clean slate "just because" or for some reason other than trying to dictate what people play with, then that is your opinion and that is fine. My beef is directly with the "You shouldn't be allowed to use X waaahhhh" and "I don't want to see those weapons anymore" crowd.

If I'm correct, not one game has ever actually let a player keep EVERYTHING to a sequel. Maybe keep a set of armour or weapons, but not everything. I think only mass effect has done that. But not in the way you would want. Mass effect has let you keep your character, and his decisions throughout the series. I don't think they get to keep their stuff though. Strangely enough, one of the writers of Mass effect is writing Destiny 2 story. Maybe that's what they'll do. Maybe the guardians of Y1-3 will be remembered and greeted differently, or even have a different opening cutscene. I think players will keep their guardians, definitely their Guardians. Maybe even the armour and weapons they were wearing and using by the end of the original. But light level, vault gear, extant holding gear, items/consumables, etc? I think our stuff will be gone and irrelevant. And our light level will likely be irrelevant I'm Destiny 2.

          • So basically, you don't want any new games. You just want a series of expansions. Do you really think that they won't make you grind all over again? It's like you forgot what they're all about. You're going to need to invest a crap load of time in year 1 of D2 or it looks like a failure compared to year D1 stats. We all remember how much mindless grinding took place in year 1 and a lot of that time had to do with the starting with 3 fresh characters.

            • I am a yr1 player and have not played in months simply because it's all old boring content. I'm undecided on whether or not I'll buy in to the next installment and if I do I'd like to leave yr1 in the dust and start fresh. I mean come on yr1 gear is so focked up it's time to just let it all go. Can you name a franchise that let you carry entire character sets over to next installment...? Look at Batman,God Of War, Ratchet and Clank, CoD, Zelda, Halo, Metroid series...and so on. Characters carry over to DLC's but not in to the next installment. New game new character.

              • In Mega Man.... I worked hard to beat every boss to get those weapons and upgrades. None of it carried over to the sequel. Why would it? It's a new game. God of war Borderlands Uncharted In fact.... I cannot think of any game/s that did sequels that ported over your states, skills, and gear....because that's just plain stupid lol Destiny, perhaps more than any game in history, needs a fresh start. Not letting you bring gear/states into a new expansion like bunjivision did is retarded, but a new game should be just that....NEW

                • Nope. Lose all guns and Armor but keep items. That way everybody has to start equal and earn everything again. No more fav OP gun that you keep for a decade. Keep all items like motes, coins, materials ect. Don't want to grind that crap over again. D2 should be a fresh start. New game engine, mechanics, dedicated servers and thought out story.

                • Souls, Diablo 3 had a very good character migration system when they released reaper of souls and XBOX ONE versions. For folks such as myself, I had to migrate my Xbox360 characters to the ONE/ROS version. I had all characters maxed out with tons of high level items and it was all transferred no problem. If blizzard can make it that easy, I'm sure bungie can figure something out. -tuna/lobo
If you want a fresh start you can delete and make a new Guardian any time you want. Don't force that bs on others who are invested in their Guardians.
They already did it with TTK, man. They obviously don't give two shits about validating players' time and effort, so I'd hardly be surprised if D2 forced players to completely restart. Hell, I'm sure Bungie/Activision want to move on as far from D1's missteps as possible, so a reset might actually be in their best interests for multiple reasons.

Year one gear was so good and now I can't use any of it in PVE... I'm not losing this shitty but still somewhat entertaining gear AGAIN
