Out of ~750 total employees, I'm assuming about 15% of them are programmers and technicians. If you take that, and subtract the major portion of them that are (deservingly) on vacation this weekend, you end up with about 5 employees on reserve for emergencies. They go on Defcon 1 when the forums start lighting up with an issue. So they tinker around gathering info before they attempt to even make a plan to resolve it, or if it is even worth resolving. (Because most of us complain constantly about issues that are easily resolved using a Google search) Then they see that it is a serious issue, and crap... Todd is at lunch. Lets wait for Todd's opinion when he gets back. Okay, Todd is back, (12 hours into issue at this point) he thinks we need to start from the bottom with troubleshooting. (24 hours of troubleshooting pass by) Nothing is working. Todd starts to get anxious and the other four Techs are tired as Fuuu. Todd anxiously picks up the phone and dials his supervisors number....ring...ring..."What the blam! Todd?! You know I'm with my family right now!".....Im sorry boss, but we have a serious issue and the players are getting mutinous... " Well did you troubleshoot?"....Of course I did, for 24 hours boss!.... "Okay, ill be there in an hour or two"...(24 hours later) Hey Boss! thank god you're here, we're getting death threats!!!..... SO... (for 24 more hours) Todd, his boss, and the four fatigued technicians toil away at their computers while their nieces and nephews text their phones constantly asking when the TAPIR will be fixed..... The guys are all tired and they just want to get to grandmas house for the cookout, they still sacrifice their precious weekend time for us....Todd gets five minutes in the bathroom alone to write on his cell phone "We are currently investigating the issue, stay tuned for updates" on the lions pit of a forum..............They are about three weeks ahead of schedule, if you ask me, they don't owe us anything, guys and girls, so give em a break. -Destiny Superfan P.S.
