This idea that Bungie is some small entity with a few programmers on hand that can take a holiday break in the middle of a huge push and launch is just... It's idle fantasy. They may be over worked, but they are there. They have a AAA launch in a two weeks, they're peeing into taco Bell cup's at their desks. The game was designed to operate across a variety of databases. That's why they chose to rely heavily on netcode. for authentication, and cheat protection. Sony/Microsoft handle The authentication. They provide static acess on two sides of the portal PS3/PS4(and so on). Bungie holds the character progression data in the middle, there's also a copy stored locally on the consoles. It used to be that you log on from your console, (the doormat), it takes your console info (gamer tag/key) and brings back part of the file that makesyou character work essentially(unlocks progress). The game was designed to seemslessly allow users on both gens to progress. Hop on one console play with your friends, hop on old console play with those who couldn't upgrade. Still gain progress and word of mouth how great is ps4. EASY to upgrade. UNTIL Sony, Microsoft, Bungie, or Activision...or all of them decided that there needs to be a push to get people off the ps3/360 because it is enduring far better than they anticipated. The hardware is solid, cheap, people pay a lot for it so they pass it on or just grow very fond. So they broke apart their stable system. Now the ps3/360 is very, very stable in terms of this type of database security because it relies solely on Sony, But the ps4/xbone have built in security, built right into the chip. It was fine when the game was running as it was supposed to. As it was designed to. However it has been essentially separated from half its database, so the feature which used to allow users to switch back and forth while keeping their progress on Both is now showing up on the ps4/ Xbox one side as { =0} for those who didn't already have a new, or perhaps because it only ever had a limited amount of users that could show up on only one side and then only the other with out triggering a total lock out because the system thinks all these accounts are faked clones, or it's hit its upper limit because databases limits (in certain cases) are procudure driven to have bounds ( so as to not grow unwieldy and slow with erroneousy, corrupted, or harmful data). including sets (other databases) generally proportionally expands a databases ability to take in entry(IE direct growth). Thats what you want to take In Users from the previous gen while simultaneously taking in new users. Excluding previous set then inversely effects the next gen creating a hard boundary for people tryimg to import. It simply got filled at about the time the error started which is why some importing after the 16th were ok. So the problem as I deduce is, they are in the middle of a launch. Not even fully done with ROI. They need a full team of specialists, on all ends, so they can "manually" import and reset the authentication on the ps4/Xbox side and import(in fact create) all the Bungie related save data... What worries me is that perhaps some bean counters have done some kind of cost analysis that shows this will only effect X amount of people out of a total population of V. We have Y amount of preorders(and projected month one sales). It costs Z to fix X's problem and Z > (X/V)*Y... So they are just stalling and hushing this while they seek customers through free trials on xbone to replace X(us), when they us give the news that our characters are lost, and if we want to keep playing we need to register our tag and start a new... And we internet riot all over there ROI launch. Im hoping I'm wrong. Praying this is justvmy mind spinning yarns. I have never seen a company stall this bad unless they had very bad news and they were scrambling to soften the blow or cover their asses. Because in age of the internet I don't care what the bean counters think, screwing 1500+ people out of money and time fosters a lot of Ill will, and they are on the edge with ROI. Bungie needes it prove that destiny is the game they promised. 10 years of asses planted in the seats. That's why theres no news. The problem isn't how do we fix TSPIR. The problem is how do they get ROI out with out a YouTube campaign spearheaded by Adam Baldwin and thousand or two of its (very vocal) (ex)fans... But if they'd just give update with idk, look the problem is complicated, we have the info. Those who are effected, get a few exotics, 50 coins, 15 legacy marks, 1500 glimer and our apologies and possibly a should be ok by xx/xx/xxxx. They'd nip this in the bud. As it is, it's leaking out over Twitter, Facebook. With more people upgrading still X is growing large enough to cut (X^2) users from buying ROI.
