What Three Things Would You Teach Your Children?

Let's hypothetically assume you are going to have children someday, or perhaps there are some of you who already have children of your own. By the time your child has grown into an adult, what three things, more than anything else, would you hope they would have learned from you? For example, my answer:
I hope my children would grow up understanding the importance of open-mindedness. That everything and everyone should be given a fair chance. I hope they'd learn to respect the opinions and views of others, even if those opinions and views may differ entirely from their own. And lastly, I'd hope they would be concerned with the world around them, and the people in it. To care about what's going on in that stranger's life. To be aware of all the good and bad in this world they're living in, and to want to do good for others.
I like a lot of these answers. I'd say a decent number of you have at least a decent idea of what you're doing. (:
Some of you are just walking memes though. And some of you, I can tell, will be very unfair toward your children.
• 1. Be yourself. Anyone who conforms to the standard just to fit in is just too scared to show the world the real you. Wether it be something dumb like preferring white chocolate over milk chocolate, or liking to RP in real life or on fourms. 2. Words are words. If someone says 'Go Fuuk yourself' ignore em. They are just saying that to make he selves feel like they hav power. Sure, they may hurt for a moment, but the pain makes you stronger. Let the words roll off your back like water off a stone. 3. How to defend themselves. Sometimes, people will not like you. They won't like that your ok with being yourself, that their insults don't hurt you. This may cause them to take physical action. My child/children need to learn to protect themselves, preferably without lethal force. Honestly, if my son or daughter for a suspension for beating a bullies teeth in cause the bully came after them, I'd be completely ok with it. If they started the fight though, that's a different story

            • I just had a daughter and I think about things I want to tell her when she gets older quite a bit now. I have 4 so far that I really want her to know. The first and most obvious is that I love you completely and utterly and I always and forever will. You'll never understand the depth of that until you yourself have children. Seek balance in everything you do and in all the information you seek. Be kind. Make the choice to look for the good in people while simultaneously being aware of their imperfections. Take time every once in a while and remember that you're a miracle. Life will be beautiful and ugly and inspiring and painful and overwhelming. You're living on the only planet that we know of that supports life while spinning through an infinite and ever expanding universe. Take a deep breath every once in a while and truly feel that.

            • Having kids myself, that's hard to narrow down. But here goes. 1) try to become better than you were yesterday. Doesn't matter if it's physical fitness, being nicer, fixing a problem in your life, learning something new, financial issues, how you treat people, anything. Try to be better today than yesterday in some way. 2) Good stories last longer than anything you can buy. Life's all about experiences. 3) Family first.
