She's one of the few American pop singers I enjoy. I like that her songs have some substance to them instead of going on about vapid bs for 3 ~ 5 mins. It's funny though, I had an acquaintance who happened to be overhearing my music and when she was playing he said something along the lines of "Ugh, I must say, the quality of your music has gone down tremendously. You were playing all sorts of good stuff I never heard and now you're listening to some generic radio pop." that "wat?" meme pretty much sums up my response. I tried to argue that her music isn't even played on the radio (afaIk) and that there's more to her than the typical pop artist, to which he said "it doesn't matter whether her music gets played on the radio, it's still generic bullshit." but I just said whatever and continued to listen to the song.
