This idea all came back awhile ago when i began to wonder, what actually would happen if our guardian didn't re spawn, what would they become?
Now the ways these guardians would come back would be through their ghost. If their ghost where damaged and attempt to bring back its guardian, it could not fully bring the guardian back, just a husk or shell of its former self, bound to this world by a faint amount of light. They would be ghost like, and would hover. There would be four types.
Type 1. Zyphers
- Basic unit-
These creatures would have a humanoid body, yet ghost like, with one un-blinking eye in the center of its head. They would move at a normal pace, and wouldn't pose much of a threat on its own, but in large numbers it would be more problematic. Their weapons would be there dead ghost, that would stay at their side. It would be wispy as well, not fully formed. It would shoot out of the front, the eye part, at a medium rate. These ghosts can also be found on there own, like shanks. The Zyphers melee attack would be long claws. The creature would lunge at the guardian, dealing medium damage. They can also be found with no ghost, and only the claws, like thrall.
Edit: the Zyhpers would be weaker guardians, ones who's light haven't quite been honed, and would be not be fought back as Titan, warlock, or hunter
Type 2: Phantoms
- Stealth unit -
These abominations are the spirits of dead hunters. They are extremely agile, much more than any of the other types. They have amazing active camouflage, being completely invisible when standing still. There right arm has been deformed into a long knife like spike. It delivers quick, extremely deadly jabs, proof that the hunters blade stays with them until death. They also will have there ghost at there side. The ghosts of the Phantoms shoot a slow, tracking projectile. They can not be snuck up on.
Type 3
Monarchs
- Heavy assault units -
These hulking beasts were once titans. Of all of the four types, these are the strongest. They take a lot of bullets to kill, and main form of attack is its over sized left arm, that can crush everything in its path. These beasts are very slow, and are easy to get around, but you never want to be corned by one. It to has a ghost at its side that shoots a very fast rapid fire burst, that deals small damage but is very, very fast.
Type 3
Syrins
- Magic/ support units. -
These sly creators are the once knowledgeable warlocks. You will never see these creatures at the front line of a battle. They will be at the back, supporting the front line. Their spells can help and hinder. They can shield there allies, and strengthen there attack, and in turn slow, and weaken guardians. Their main form of attack is a their ghost, which is used much more differently than the others. It is used to cast its dark magic. They dont have much of an actual weapon, besides hindering guardians, and sending down a cloud of smoke that completely blinds them, giving them time to get away. If all the members of a Syrins group is killed, it will take the easy way out, and self destruct itself. These explosions are very deadly, so beware guardian.
Any feed back and other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks :)
Edit: The lost would seek out and kill guardians in the hope that they could drain the light from them and bring themselves back from the other side. They do this so viscously because they live (or actually don't) in a state of constant pain.
Edit: The lost would be a rare enemy, showing up in every location (even social spaces, but no weapons, and they would be off in the distance) And are much harder to kill enemies, actually requiring strategy to take down a group of them. There would be huge public events that include them, and mabye a dead guardian that was a figure of great power and light (Saint-14, Osiris, the iron lords .etc) and would drop very powerful and good loot.
Edit: changed the name
Edit: We made it to the front page of the lore section! thanks everyone for there support. :)

Nice. Personally I'd like to see a enemy based off the Egyptian Anubis/Jackal men. With futuristic armor, blind Jackal helmets, melee guys with solar curved Egyptian swords, soldier with Egyptian themed Falcon helmet or King Cobra snake. Scarab droids that can burrow into the sands and ambush players. A raid in the pyramids. Strikes and patrol zone in Egypt. Giant Robot Scorpion tank boss, and Egyptian gods as bosses, Isis, Horus, etc. Maybe throw in some story on Osiris.

Another interesting thought.... The ghosts didn't just pick humans. They chose awoken, who are barely human anymore, they chose exos, who............. They haven't fully established what exos are... Presumably the ghost could choose any sentient creature... Including Eliksni, Cabal, obviously not Hive who are polarized against the Light... But a funny thing... Humans are not the only sentient animal on earth..................... To put not to fine a point of on it... Most mammalians and some avians, especially corvids (ravens, crows..) are capable of problem solving and empathy, both of which require an interior monologue which means they are sentient. One wonders what would happen if a ghost found it's self drawn to a guardian it didn't expect... And what changes the traveler's light might work upon them... Would the guardians call these creatures abominations? Would they be exiled from the city?

Vex (3 letters) (1 eye) Hive (4 letters) (3 eyes) Cabal (5 letters) (2 eyes) Fallen (6 letters) (4 eyes) So your new creature needs to have 2 or 7 letters in its name and no eyes or 5
just saying
Id change the name of Zyphers to Revenants. Sounds more tonally appropriate

I like where you were going about guardians not fully revived and such... After that, it was a bit down hill to me. 1) Why would these guardian husks be our enemies? (I apologize if I may have missed this in the post) 2) If they are unable to be fully reformed, why give them deformities? Like the hunter, for example. Why rewrite his atomic structure to give him a dagger instead of trying to fully fix him? 3) I'm not big on the supernatural stuff, so, if these things are walking smokes, why are they any concern? I'm sorry if this came off over critical. It's just some things that I feel should be, if not already, explained.

Edited by BootKnacks: 9/13/2016 4:14:05 PMso the flood from halo 3? also, sorry, but you need to learn the difference between their and there. I can take one or two mispellings, but i am pretty sure you messed up every single instance in this post.

I'm gonna have to say no, mmkay...

I want a Crazy Cow level.. that audible yelp is all too recognizable.

Sooo, basically Nobodies from KH2? Cool.

Osiris isn't dead. Also lore-wise, a Ghost cannot resurrect a Guardian in any form without the minimum amount of Light necessary. A badly damaged Ghost would still probably have enough Light left for one last res before it succumbed. So you would just be brought back and have no more connection to the Light.
-
How about calling them "The Desolate"?
-
sees monarch: welp. game over. see yall in hell.
-
Osiris isn't dead.......
or alive
-
The Monarchs special ability is shooting a steady stream of salt into the Bungie.net forums. Even in death, Titans are crybabies.

That moment when the community has better ideas than the company making the game

Seeing "Zypher" makes me think of "Zephyr". Was it a spelling error?

Make this a thing!!!! Bumptiy bump bump
-
that's kind of spooky actually

This is -blam!-ing great, i could see this being a pvp type of event before/after/during halloween. If it was a story like a new dlc it could be like idk a guardian went rogue and then he becomes the leader and whatever fallen guardians he see's he tells them to join him and they themselves join because they are scared and just died for a -blam!-ing rock( the traveler) that would be sick honestly. This comment as well as the lore should be sent to bungie for consideration.

MOTH PEOPLE
-
They would have to be VERY rare, and come in small numbers. IMO, the first unit is unnecessary, as guardians are much smaller in number than many people believe. I think that it should just kind of be that one species that hardly ever appears, but when it does, you're pretty much dead.
