I've been out of Destiny for a few months, so I don't know if this is an old thing, or something that's changed going into RoI? I noticed it straight away in PVT Crucible while we were ghost hunting, tho. Half-damage to anything not touching the ground, whether that's falling off a surface, standard jump, or class jump.
Since when? I knew you could slide under them, or emote to avoid damage altogether, but... eh?

My favorite is when they decide to track you instead of tracking your target. I've been killed by my own bolts plenty of times.

I've literally seen my axion bolts do half damage, quarter damage and as low as 2 damage to two separate targets at the same time. The warlock is the most neglected class. We struggle to compete against Titans and hunters in pvp. I'm too stubborn to switch to those classes. I've been a warlock main since beta. I love my warlock but if I want to compete I have to try hard all the time using it.

Simple, they got away from the center of the explosion before it detonated
-
Moving away from them tends to lessen the damage. Cool tip, if you sit down the axion bolt will just circle above your head.
-
Played yesterday and haven't seen this happen.
-
you can also just shoot them to get away entirely. As a voidwalker main this is frustrating but I use axion bolts more for scouting around corners than actual damage.

110 is the standard damage for a hit. But people have found many ways to juke an axion bolt. If you get close enough to make it detonate, and keep moving so that you move away from the explosion, you'll take less damage. People moving through the air often do this by accident, which may explain why you see this on airborne targets. I've seen low damage and full damage on airborne targets.

Whenever I play Voidwalker I find Axion Bolts very unreliable. Mainly because people can run if they can, slide under it or a Hunter in shadestep can remove it's aggro. Not to mention it doesn't always do full damage for some odd reason. Add all of that and Nothing Manacles and Scatter Grenades are already much better.

I don't understand axiom bolts logic Sometimes it kill guardians who run away too far. Sometimes it do too small damage.

Most people i see them crouch to lessen the damage
