The OPs point is Bungie was listening to the community and responding with changes that were asked for.
To respond to that with 'we paid for it' is irresponsible. Unless you personally are paying a few hundred thousand for the developer salaries, it's an entitled mindset being displayed in such a spoiled brat response.
