Cayde 6 was human before he took up an offer from Clovis Bray. At their facility on Europa is where his conscientiousness was transferred into an Exo frame and became the Cayde 6 we know now.
You can find all this info in the book that came with TTKs collectors edition.

Hmm, guess I need to actually read that. I've had that hard copy package with the book and coin and everything and well, just never got around to reading it. It's good, eh? Is it the book that the strange coin was in? I forget what all came in that packaging now.
