now i saw a theory that maya became the awoken queen (and before people say that she would die of old age bear in mind that it is never explicitly stated how old awoken can live up to and keep in mind that she was queen during the battle of the twilight gap and that i believe was supposed to be up to 30 years before the events of destiny and she still looks to be in her 20s so either awoken live a really long time or the queen has some top quality moisturiser) by using what she learnt from the machine to foresee events and prepare for them for example, she sees all the different instances when the house of wolves enters the solar system, so she see what happens if the awoken do nothing (city destroyed and eventually the reef) and for the instances where they did fight the wolves she used the strategies from the instances where they won over the wolves to defeat the wolves in the instance where she exists, it is likely the same with oryx as she seemed to be prepared to fail in destroying the dreadnought but it is heavily implied that she has survived somehow and it is likely the fact that she knew what to do to ensure her survival that made her take the risk of attacking the dreadnought.
