Destiny has 'pillars' that make its gameplay fun, just like back in the day the original Halo was praised for its 3 pillars of: guns, melee & grenades, Destiny has: guns, melee, grenades & supers.
The trickle modifier that is used for Prison of Elders and Nightfalls is a horrible modifier that needs to either be drastically changed or totally removed from the game because it essentially cuts out way too many of those pillars that make the game fun.
Destiny is designed around equipping gear and choosing special abilities to make cool and powerful combos that help you play in fun and unique ways. Trickle makes all those perks and combos more or less pointless because everything takes so long to charge (even with Intellect, Discipline or Strength maxed out and perks in play that help charge stuff faster), that there's not really any point in trying to optimize for anything.
I understand that the whole point of modifiers in PoE and Nightfall is to both make things a bit more challenging and to get you to play a little differently than you might normally do, however trickle takes things to far and leaves you essentially with: 'shooting' as the only pillar left to play with, which makes the whole experience simply not fun.
So please Bungie, if you want to raise the challenge of a mode, stick with modifiers that boost the enemy's damage resistance or potency. And if you want to get people to play a mode with a different approach then they normally might, stick with using modifiers that limit specific abilities (i.e. just your melee charge or just your grenade charge or just your super charge). Because if you at least did that then players would still be able to switch out their gear to focus on the other game design pillars not affected by the modifier.
As opposed to trickle, with just leaves you without any options except: shoot stuff and be bored.
Thanks for reading and love the game overall!
