It appears to be slowly leaking in real time lore showing how SIVA is getting released leading to RoI release. Owl Sector appears to be an Intel division in the tower/city, but not under the vanguard. So far it has ID'd four members: Shun, Quista, Berriole, and Ram (full name unknown so far). Berriole went to the dust palace and found a research lab that Willa bray (invented engam decrypting) and a dr shirazi used during the golden age. It appears to be the source of the infection. The also keep mentioning "Dawm Calamity". The way they refer to it, it sounds like a previous event, possibly the containment of a previous contagion release? They kept expanding the lab notes with new info every few hours. Pretty cool spin on the lead up they did on HoW/TDB.

  • Dawn Calamity may have something to do with the Twilight Gap incident. Simple word association. Just a thought.

Dawn calamity may refer to a grimoire card. I'm paraphrasing but it's along the lines of a vex/cabal battle that was interrupted by a show of serious fire power (assumed from Charlemagne). Then Rockets McDickface sends the flayers to the dust palace to investigate. That's where the flayer strike comes into play lore wise. Either way they mention dawn something or other in the card a few times.

  • The character in that card is Rasputin.

  • Rasputin isn't on mars. It's known the dust palace and Charlemagne go hand in hand. Why would Valus send the flayers to investigate the dust palace if the attack came from rasputin? It doesn't make sense that it would be rasputin otherwise he would've sent the flayers to earth presumably.

  • It mentions Rasputin in the Dust Palace dialogue! Not to mention there is a mission in vanilla that has to do with Rasputin in the Dust Palace. Also, what do they call Rasputin? The Last Warmind. It wouldn't be hard to believe that Rasputin had access to all the other Warminds' systems.

That makes sense for sure but we know there's action possibly involving Charlemagne and we know he isn't dead but more likely disabled somehow. In the mission the buried city we learn the cabal could easily level the buried city but they don't due to the fact that they're looking for something. This combined with the grimiore card (which is the closest we have to explaining the flayers motive) it sets up the possibility that Charlemagne has something to do with this. Now add the fact that the flayers are currently the nightfall, the nanobots, and the attention put on the dust palace I feel like this theory really holds water. Side note: I know how these forums can be, please don't think IIA "arguing" as much as debating. I love these debates because our head coming together is the only way to figure these things out. Cheers, I await rebuttal!

The Grimoire card is Rasputin 2. So, there's that. Also after "it" uses it weapons the Hunter says (who narrates it) that she remembers something about the Array opening, and "a ghost of the Cosmodrone set loose", which I thinks confirms it as Rasputin. And I don't doubt that Charlamagne is, alive? I don't know how that works, but anyways, I'm just saying that Warmind in that Grimoire card I don't think is Rasputin. I will say you've made some good points and I can see where your coming from, and I think, and this is really reaching here, but what if we somehow contact Charlamagne or quite possibly got to Charlamagnes vault in RoI. We know the original place you could find the Thorn was going to be this vault but obviously that changed. And now with Thorn having a quest it's a possibility we'll go here. Edit: I was going over the card again and saw something kind of cool. It mentions a Centurion saying "Black Shield, Black Shield, Firebase Thuria", presumably asking for reinforcements, which I thought was kind of cool. I was going to say maybe it was whoever the warmind was killed everyone there, but I think it's a little too "intact" for that. So the Vex took it out. I just think it was a cool fact.
