Hey everyone,
I've been answering this question for a few of you guys all night so I figured I would just put the info in one centralized location.
First thing's first, why am I qualified to help you?
I am currently a Gamestop Employee in the Southern Arizona district. Employee Number 494539 at the location in Tucson on Broadway Blvd. Feel free to call us if you have any gaming questions at all and request "Dom" if you want me specifically. Anyway, onto the madness that has been dredged up from the depths of the Microsoft Marketplace.
"I entered my $30 dollar code online but it will not give me rise of iron. What do I do?"
Okay, just so you guys know, Rise of Iron Pre-Orders from Gamestop are a little different from your full-game Pre-Orders in the sense that, for Microsoft users, they are just currency for the content later. This is the same for purchasing the Call of Duty Season Pass as well as other major DLC pieces. When the clerk (or online page) prompted you for which edition of the game you wanted, you selected the lowest amount of $30. This is a bit of a problem as, with tax on the marketplace, the game actually comes out to about $35 dollars. The $35 dollar option was also available, but if you were not informed about it or decided to try and save a little money, you are coming up a bit short right now.
"Since I have this code, how do I get my rise of iron without the sufficient funds?"
Unless you are in Europe, sadly most Gamestops have since closed so you will need to get the necessary funds from Microsoft cards sold at other stores like Walmart or Target, or use the Microsoft marketplace to purchase the points with a credit card. After you get the other funds, be sure to enter these before you enter your Rise of Iron code since, when you enter the RoI code, it will immediately try to take the full amount from your account but you will only have the $30 available to you. Be sure to have the rest of the currency on your account before you redeem it to ensure it goes off without much more of a hitch.
"I pre-ordered online and have not received my Iron G-Horn or G-Wing codes. How do I get that sweet loot?"
Well, assuming there is a Gamestop in your area, we usually have access to replacement codes should there be errors with the ones sent out. This is a part of Gamestop's Customer Solutions promise. We will do everything we can to hold up our end of the deal and keep you happy. Provide proof of purchase in your store and there should be no problem getting you a new code for your RoI purchase. Keep in mind, this cannot be done over the phone. You have to come in to that given store.
"I pre-ordered from Gamestop in person, but I ended up just buying it through the Microsoft marketplace. Will I be able to get my money back? I kinda like my money..."
So long as you did not order the game online, yes. Yes you can have your money back. Just report to the same store you pre-ordered it from and boom, you are good to go. Also, for you Gears fans out there, Pre-Ordering Gears of War 4 while also being a Pro member will get you $20 off of a second, new Xbox 1 title when you pick up GoW 4. Just in case you were wondering if you should put that deposit down towards something else... Not like I'm trying to meet a sales quota or anything... Ha... Haha. Ha.
"I am currently game-sharing The Taken King and am cannot buy Rise of Iron. How do I fix this?"
Rise of Iron does not support Game Share, so you will need to purchase The Taken King before even trying to redeem your codes for Rise of Iron or even the pre-order bonuses. Many users on this page have reported this issue and this is the only answer we have found.
"My code is simply not working are there any known issues regarding the code itself?"
Several users on this page have reported Microsoft having sent out faulty codes, but so far the incidents have only been reported in Canada. Still, if you can enter the code but it is reported as error, speak to Microsoft and give them your local Gamestop's contact number so that they may alert them to the issue and get you a new code.
If there are any more questions you guys might have please feel free to post them below. I am a pretty knowledgeable guardian and I am more than happy to lend what I know and my research skills to assist you guys in any way.

Pls Help ME!! I can't buy the ROI DLC from either of the things on Xbox and I really don't want to have money wasted. I have $40 on my account. PLS REPLY!!
-
So on the topic of discussion, what about if you did not preorder and you are currently unable to purchase Rise Of Iron on the Xbox Store? Kind of want to play ASAP and it says both variants on the store are unavailable.
-
Hopefully you can help. So I preordered ROI a month ago and I went and got it yesterday. Thing is I received my Ghorn and Gjallerwing. I did t receive rise of iron but the $30 Microsoft credit. I can't use this credit to purchase it on Xbox Store because it keeps on showing "Working" each time I click on it. I can't use any of the preorder bonuses nor can't I play ROI. Hopefully you could clean this up since Bungie and Microsoft seems to be ignoring us.

My brother got the $30 on his account (we share an xbox) from the code but every time he tries to buy it in the game it says "query failed: could not establish connection to the xbox games store. New silver purchases will update when you next sign in." Do you know how to fix this?
-
You definitely sound like you know what you are doing. I hope you can help. So I got my ROI code from Gamestop and after doing what you are supposed to so it could game share, it would only show up on my home xbox, not my husbands. I spent three hours with Xbox support on the phone figuring out how to fix it, which was I had to sign in on his home xbox and then both his and my son's profile showed "manage game" that there were two things to install, ROI and the Gallerjorn Bonus content. Heres what went wrong. My son had no issues at all with getting all his prebonus stuff, game content etc, neither do I, but my husband's is all jacked up. At first it showed that it was there then when he went in to actually play, nothing would let him because it kept saying he needed the download ROI but it clearly shows he already HAS it installed. I"m ready to pound my head against the wall. I don't even know who to call. Xbox or Gamestop?

Im a suspicious person So part of me thinks that some Co-Worker (or ex-employee) posted some info and prompted "The Internet" to just start calling his enemy "Dom" to annoy the living hell out of him. Or, maybe this guy really is this nice. Nobody knows :-)

it does not come up to $35 or higher than that. it's about $33 a little less

When I enter my pre order code on xbox that I purchased at gamestop all it says is "Code not found. Try re-entering it again. If that doesn't work you should contact your merchant" When I went to Gamestop they just told me to contact Microsoft so I went back home and later was told by a Microsoft tech support that it was just a problem with the game provider, but this just confused me even more. Please if you have any ideas as to why it is not working please let me know!

Hi so I preordered online drone GameStop and received the code for the expansion but instead of clicking redeem in Xbox one to get the actual ROI I accidentally hit the redeem on live.xbox.com choice. It led me to a screen saying thanks and your 30$ credit has been redeemed. Then later in the day and email was sent to me giving me the codes for the pre order bonuses and thanking me for buying the preorder ROI. I have redeemed the bonus codes but it says I can't equip them due to me not having the actual preorder or the expansion at all. So I'm assuming all this is because I redeemed the code on the live.xbox instead of my actual Xbox? If so is there ANY possible way to fix this so I am able to play? Thanks so much.

Edited by GreatCyberwolf: 9/21/2016 11:32:54 AMThank you. I have also been trying to answer those types of posts but to see someone from your company to stand up and make a post themselves is great. The only thing that could be better would be if this was from senior management or at lease they give you some time in front of the work computer to carry on helping customers. It took really a brave person to step up and say lets help no matter the storm I might head into. Again thank you.

I pre ordered ROI at ebgames(GameStop) about a month ago and I get a call from them saying that Microsoft pretty much screwed up and gave out broken ROI codes so they said that they'll fully refund my money back and they'll give me the pre order bonuses. I'm thinking of getting the collection upgrade. I own the taken king on my Xbox 360(legacy consol) but I'm game sharing destiny and the taken king on my XB1. so do you think I should get the collection UPGRADE? Or should I just get the regular collection?

Hey thanks for the post. I was wondering if you know anything about the whole "query failed requirements not met" debacle? I did preorder my ROI from gamestop entered in the code (I did receive the $33 plus have enough funds to cover tax) and either way that I attempt to buy it is not working. When I click on the ROI axe in the destination map it gives me "query failed".
-
What about if I haven't preordered it and I'm unable to purchase it?
-
I have been unable to purchase this. I had a preorder for it about a month ago from GameStop. Apparently, something stupid happened and it was cancelled, had to do with something with the payment. Regardless, I went into my GameStop several times and asked very clearly if I still had my ROI preorder, and they assured me each time that I did and I'd get an email. Well, now I am screwed out of the preorder bonuses, I went out and bought the 35$ code. When I try and buy it from the store itself, all it says is "rise of iron is currently unavailable". She. I try and purchase from the destiny in game screen, it tells me "query failed, could not connect to Xbox store at this time. All new silver purchases will be available next time you sign in". The only title o can buy that includes ROI right now is the collection title. Which I'm not paying for content I already own just to play something I should have had successfully preordered a month ago, all if those several GameStop employees told me that my preorder was cancelled. Because according to the held line I spoke to, it was cancelled the same day I placed it. So it was cancelled each time I asked about it. Is there anything I can do to play this tonight without dropping another $30???

Okay heres a question... i "owned" all of the Destiny + DLC up to Taken King ... one day i stopped playing and gave my Taken King disk .. and orignial Destiny Disk to ebgames, got 5 bucks for them .. whatever .... but i pre order the ROI only ... not the full collection .... and i installed it and taken king DLC .... am i screwed .. do i need a disk ? cause its not showing up on my Xbox ... and the only way i seem to be able to play is by playing the Destiny Trial ... which is working so far ... any ideas ? should i have a disk ??

Not like I'm trying to meet a sales quota or anything... Ha... Haha. Ha.
Wells Fargo joke?
so i preordered RoI about a month ago and got my code yesterday, then the $30 credit, and was going to preorder last night but the xbox store would not let me. would i be able to go to a gamestop with my confirmation email and get the preorder benefits and everything?
-
What if we had already put our code in before we read this and didn't load the proper funds up before hand? I am at work right now so haven't had a chance to play around with it. I had put my code in yesterday and realize then it seemed kinda wonky. My buddy texted me this morning since he had done the same yesterday and didn't preload more $ into his account. He said you had to search for something like "Rise of Irons - Preorder" and then if you had put your code in earlier it would let you "buy" it. He only found that one by searching for is specifically. Maybe that will help some that may have jumped the gun yesterday and not went thru you steps. Seems like a big pain and snafu on Gamestops part though to really complicate what shoulda been an easy process. and BIG UPS Tucson. Sonoran Desert homey here as well.

I called my local GameStop and the guy said he has no back-up codes. Rise of Iron for XB1 is currently only available through Destiny: The Collection. So now i'm screwed out of the game and my pre order bonuses. Do you have any suggestions before I cancel my GameStop membership and shit all over their social media?
