I was playing Archon's forge to think about something else, because my great-grandmother died today (she was age 92 if you were wondering) and my first legendary drop was this sniper.
I don't know if it was a message from heaven or something because this weapon name ("But not forgotten") and description ("Not even the dead are truly gone.") really fits with what happened to me today. She is gone, but she will never be forgotten in my heart, RIP my great grandmother, this weapon is going to represent you to me, a memory of who you were.
Thanks a lot Bungie for creating a beautiful and unique sniper that you probably didn't expect someone to give it such a significance to it. Coincidences can make really beautiful things, and today, it proved to me that it can happen.
TL;DR I got a sniper that really fits with the death of a relative of mine. RIP to my grand-grandmother.
If you want to cheer me up, go ahead, I really want this community to stick together and help eachother in the moments where it matters the most, also, this isn't a post where I just wrote just so I get your empathy to me, as I said, I just wanted to talk about what this weapon is going to mean to me.
Edit: Added the description of the weapon and fixed a typo.
Edit #2: Thanks for the support, you've been giving to me, it's not really easy to me right now and it makes me happy to see all of you caring about a fellow guardian. I wasn't expecting much about it tbh. I will add a clarification as for why I used the word "heaven" in the text, it is because of the religious belief of her and I respect what she believed in, if it was any other religion, I would've used the word representing a "good place after one's life" for the proper religion of said person.
Edit #3: Over 500 replies! Wow, that's just amazing, it makes me feel better to know that you can care about something like this so much. I thank each and everyone of you who replied with a positive comment. I hope this story will make you think how deep connections can happen, and to everyone living in a situation similar to me, I say "Keep your head up and stay stong, even with what you're living through.". Finally, it makes me happy to know that some people pretty much gave this weapon a significance close to mine, in honor of a close relative who passed away recently.
Edit #4 (probably last one): Over 1000 replies! I never thought it would go up that high, I'm used to normally 10 or so replies maximum, but this, this is just amazing! Thank you again for the support you've been giving me, it really makes a difference and I'm happy to know that you do help me, even though we don't even know eachother at all. That's what's awesome about this community.

Edited by Church100: 9/30/2016 9:07:11 AMMy condolences guardian. Its nice that you've had that happen as a tribute. Just make sure to lock it so you don't dismantle it by accident.

My grandma's an asshole. She really is.
Death happens, it's something you'll have to get used to.
92? That's a good run! Gg to your grandma. Rest in peace.
-
How much did you get for sharding it?
-
-
I checked and it was there... Spooky.
-
The Force will be with you, always.

Sorry for your loss, and congrats on that sniper.
But aside from that... Come on dude... Heaven changing the drops in a video game for you? :|
-
Yeah, sorry for your loss....but,this is a private matter for you and your family, not a subject for a gaming forum. You're just leaving yourself open to abuse especially when you mention fantasy religious propaganda like heaven.

Your post is nothing special. Every week players will probably get the same weapon as everyone else...i called it free "weapon of the weak" (WOTW) or (FWOTW) Let me guess, you also got the "The Devil You know" last week too. Note: No harm feelings about your lost (sorry about that), i know how it feels to loose a loveone too but posting his/her personal dilemma forum might lead to ppl negativity or trolls...but hey, no one's lives forever an sure i probably be the first to goto hell too (who knows) but who to say pp here won't comment much worst after my post won't be any better what i have to say...nobody perfect but i accept ppl who they are as life past us by for better or worst. -
Edited by lonesoldier27: 9/30/2016 3:43:20 PMI got a similar story, well minus the dead relative, but coincidence for sure I was in the crucible during house of wolves on on a horrific losing streak when a guy on the other team decided to tea bag me near the start of the match, normally I laugh at such childish things but it got to me this time. I began focusing on this guy, ensuring his death, even when I was out numbered by his teammates I would toss a trip mine back when they stuck to people at him to make sure he died, and I'd tea bag each chance I got to let him know why I was killing him. Eventually this happened so much that player raged quit allowing my team to win against the now outnumbered team and in the rewards section I got the sniper "low grade humility" with a flavor text of "I'm good at this" I fell of my couch laughing

I lost my grandma to COPD in 2004 and still miss her very much . I then lost my aunt in 2013 to breast cancer . I was very close to both of them . I think about them everyday . Just know your grandmother lived a good long life . 92 is a long time . My condolences to you and your family .

Sorry to hear than man. My 90 year old grandmother passed away 2 weeks ago. They grew up in a pretty incredible time and they will be missed.

It's a sign from RNGesus...

RIP G-MA

It will be super awkward if you accidentally dismantle that gun.
-
You found coincidental symbolism in a drop from a video game that, i'll admit, has also emotionally helped me in some situations. That's cool. But don't post it here. You'll just get assholes. Try /r/DestinyTheGame

Sorry for your loss. I'd get out of these toxic forms though if I were you lol people can't handle opposing opinions here.
-
Coincidence imo.

Edited by TheTommieC: 9/30/2016 12:00:11 PMEvery time you get a kill with it, your great grandmother will whisper, "Damn camping noob. I raised you better than this. Use a fusion. Do it for Granny." Keep on keeping on, Guardian.
