I was playing Archon's forge to think about something else, because my great-grandmother died today (she was age 92 if you were wondering) and my first legendary drop was this sniper.
I don't know if it was a message from heaven or something because this weapon name ("But not forgotten") and description ("Not even the dead are truly gone.") really fits with what happened to me today. She is gone, but she will never be forgotten in my heart, RIP my great grandmother, this weapon is going to represent you to me, a memory of who you were.
Thanks a lot Bungie for creating a beautiful and unique sniper that you probably didn't expect someone to give it such a significance to it. Coincidences can make really beautiful things, and today, it proved to me that it can happen.
TL;DR I got a sniper that really fits with the death of a relative of mine. RIP to my grand-grandmother.
If you want to cheer me up, go ahead, I really want this community to stick together and help eachother in the moments where it matters the most, also, this isn't a post where I just wrote just so I get your empathy to me, as I said, I just wanted to talk about what this weapon is going to mean to me.
Edit: Added the description of the weapon and fixed a typo.
Edit #2: Thanks for the support, you've been giving to me, it's not really easy to me right now and it makes me happy to see all of you caring about a fellow guardian. I wasn't expecting much about it tbh. I will add a clarification as for why I used the word "heaven" in the text, it is because of the religious belief of her and I respect what she believed in, if it was any other religion, I would've used the word representing a "good place after one's life" for the proper religion of said person.
Edit #3: Over 500 replies! Wow, that's just amazing, it makes me feel better to know that you can care about something like this so much. I thank each and everyone of you who replied with a positive comment. I hope this story will make you think how deep connections can happen, and to everyone living in a situation similar to me, I say "Keep your head up and stay stong, even with what you're living through.". Finally, it makes me happy to know that some people pretty much gave this weapon a significance close to mine, in honor of a close relative who passed away recently.
Edit #4 (probably last one): Over 1000 replies! I never thought it would go up that high, I'm used to normally 10 or so replies maximum, but this, this is just amazing! Thank you again for the support you've been giving me, it really makes a difference and I'm happy to know that you do help me, even though we don't even know eachother at all. That's what's awesome about this community.

Sorry for your loss.
but you go that based on RNG. Wasn't a message from the heavens. (I don't think it exists)
I'm sorry for your loss

Thank you for sharing your story with us. It's these unexpected moments in life that somehow conspire to be among the most inspirational and special. Please try to ignore all the trolling idiots on this thread.

My condolences and thanks for the idea to putting a meaning behind that gun
-
May the memories of your lost loved ones bring swift deaths to those who wish to harm whom you love still, Guardian!
-
Godspeed.

Sorry for your loss. This is something that is truly great and would only be better if you were able to Keep this weapon for the entirety of Destiny and its new games. Unfortunately Destiny is going in a new direction and starting basically from scratch... So that connection you have will only be for a year. Bungie needs to go back and realize that there are things like your post thought the community and should be able to keep your guardians and weapons coming in to Destiny 2.
-
Rest in peace.

Sorry to hear that but I'd say 92 was a good run. My older brother, age 39 also a good run, was killed in a car accident Tuesday morning and I've had two stress releivers, talking to my wife and playing Destiny. I pulled that gun last night and thought the same thing. Fight the good fight gaurdians.

You have my sympathy guardian and that is an awesome looking sniper also. I understand totally what your saying and respect that since I have had drops that meant more to me than others. The black spindle is of late, my dad and i ran it together twice and got it one the second try. Not bad considering he is 68! Best wishes to you.

Edited by Dielan Wet: 9/30/2016 6:18:15 PMMy great grandmother died yesterday. She was 173 year olds. It was super sad that she died for me because I think she couldve made it to 250. Unfortunately, I'm at 192 Victories in the Forge and I've only recieved Hunter rags so I'm guessing that's a sign from the heavens to wipe my tears away and stop applying random events in a video game to a real life story. She was 92 which is more than a long and fulfilling life for someone. It's selfish of you to be banking off her death. I haven't seen any posts here prior telling us how glad you are when she was alive.

How old are you? 12? How young did your grandparents have you mom and dad

Edited by PlumberNick9: 9/30/2016 8:25:38 PMMake sure you lock it. You might discard it on accident one day.

Heaven lol

Sorry for your loss Guardian, may that snipers aim stay true.
-
She lived a long life and was remembered, I think she made out like a bandit on the whole life thing. Sorry for your loss, may that sniper bring you and your grandmother great honor in the trials this weekend.
-
This is quite a nice coincedence. Regardless of the fact that this is a gun in a video game, it is something that can hold significance and hold a memory of someone you care about. For it to happen in a game you care about and play regularly is something really cool. My condolences for your loss.
-
My condolences guardian, losing a loved one is never easy, and I'm glad you found something you ease that pain.
-
92 is a full life. God rest her soul.
-
That's deep, my condolences to you.
-
That's a damn good coincidence. Our condolences.
-
Me too I got it from a Perfected Captain in the Archons Forge, it looks deadly.
-
Sorry for your loss, the swords of sangheilios will be at your side.
-
Sorry about your great grandmother. That's a pretty awesome thing to happen in destiny man. Glad it made your day
