I was playing Archon's forge to think about something else, because my great-grandmother died today (she was age 92 if you were wondering) and my first legendary drop was this sniper.
I don't know if it was a message from heaven or something because this weapon name ("But not forgotten") and description ("Not even the dead are truly gone.") really fits with what happened to me today. She is gone, but she will never be forgotten in my heart, RIP my great grandmother, this weapon is going to represent you to me, a memory of who you were.
Thanks a lot Bungie for creating a beautiful and unique sniper that you probably didn't expect someone to give it such a significance to it. Coincidences can make really beautiful things, and today, it proved to me that it can happen.
TL;DR I got a sniper that really fits with the death of a relative of mine. RIP to my grand-grandmother.
If you want to cheer me up, go ahead, I really want this community to stick together and help eachother in the moments where it matters the most, also, this isn't a post where I just wrote just so I get your empathy to me, as I said, I just wanted to talk about what this weapon is going to mean to me.
Edit: Added the description of the weapon and fixed a typo.
Edit #2: Thanks for the support, you've been giving to me, it's not really easy to me right now and it makes me happy to see all of you caring about a fellow guardian. I wasn't expecting much about it tbh. I will add a clarification as for why I used the word "heaven" in the text, it is because of the religious belief of her and I respect what she believed in, if it was any other religion, I would've used the word representing a "good place after one's life" for the proper religion of said person.
Edit #3: Over 500 replies! Wow, that's just amazing, it makes me feel better to know that you can care about something like this so much. I thank each and everyone of you who replied with a positive comment. I hope this story will make you think how deep connections can happen, and to everyone living in a situation similar to me, I say "Keep your head up and stay stong, even with what you're living through.". Finally, it makes me happy to know that some people pretty much gave this weapon a significance close to mine, in honor of a close relative who passed away recently.
Edit #4 (probably last one): Over 1000 replies! I never thought it would go up that high, I'm used to normally 10 or so replies maximum, but this, this is just amazing! Thank you again for the support you've been giving me, it really makes a difference and I'm happy to know that you do help me, even though we don't even know eachother at all. That's what's awesome about this community.

Inb4 you use it for infusion fuel

The heart strings are tugged. Glad you found comfort in destiny. It's always nice to get away and take your mind of things but also a way to keep yourself grounded to reality.
-
I was hyped to get the sniper for another reason
Might be apparent why to some.
But yours trumps mine Sorry for your loss
-
What better way to honor your great grandma's passing by obtaining something commemorative like.......a video game sniper rifle?
-
That's a beautiful coincidence. I do hope you find peace in your heart.
-
Sorry for your loss. Stay strong.

Not really a unique weapon when the iron banner sniper looks exactly the same.
-
As fitting a tribute as an item could be.
-
I'm really surprised at all the trolls on here, further proof that a lot of gaming communities really suck. If you're as insensitive as you come off as, that is completely undesirable and you will likely spend your life alone until you change. Sorry for your loss brother.

sorry for your loss bud
-
I'm sorry for your loss. She's in a better place now, if that's any condolence to you.
-
Sorry for your loss. It's a wonderful thing to have the chance and time to spend with a grand parent. More so a great grandparent. Cherish the memories. Enjoy the sniper.

Edited by Artorias: 9/30/2016 10:39:59 AMHeaven is not real, but u live in America and the declaration says freedom of religion so, I believe it is a message from this "heaven" thing. My grandma died a week ago, you don't see me bitching, but "stay strong"
-
Remember: don't quickscope, grand grandma hated quickscopers
-
I wonder if the dude with Fate of Fools is still alive

Anybody else guiltily cringe whenever reading a post like this? I mean, I feel sorry for your loss, but your wording is just cringe worthy. I ain't even an atheist, and I think "message from heaven" is just pushing the boundary between sympathy and awkwardness. #TitanMasterRace

I'm sure that your grandmother was a wonderful person, and I'm sure that you'll meet again one day.

It is rapidly becoming my favorite sniper. My grandparents were assholes. I'm jealous you got good ones.
