So I'm a casual gamer, I enjoy pretty much any type of game. Any type of game except platformers.
I only bought Destiny a week ago and while there are some hard challenges for an old casual gamer like myself, the game itself is beautiful and fun.
Until, that is, I got to Cayde cache mission. Great, now I need make stupid effing jumps and not fall to my death. Epic fails ensued.
Having eventually finished that mission, I thought that was probably it with the mario bros. throwback that I always hated. But then, I got to Queen's ransom mission and gave up after 50 deaths.
Are they freaking serious with this crap? Is this a shooter/rpg combo or a platformer joke???
Just needed to rant, but seriously, this game should've come with a warning "Requires platformer type gameplay" so I could have avoided buying this crap. This really ruins games for me.

The jumping drives me insane, the warlock jump is great for height but I'm not keen, the titan is good for the invis platforms as he has a more levlel jump but mine usually flies way past the edge!! I get on much better overall on my hunter but I do wear Bones of Eao a lot to give them a boost If I get a key for a jumping trauma if not on hunter I just delete it not worth the aggro! I often wonder if Bungie have lava floors in the office and all employees have to leap across tables and chairs to get to the "little boys room" and they just want to share the fun! But honestly your jumping will get better, it is frustrating to start with but rather than keep failing getting more wound up, do something else then go back to it

I've never seen anyone complain about this topic. Clearly...
youre mad cuz bad
-
In all seriousness mad coz bad.
-
Anybody who doesn't love Mario can just seriously gtfo
-
Warlocks have the weirdest jumps. Hunters have what you'd expect.
-
Please take video of yourself (with audio from your mic) running King's Fall.
-
Better never try to do a Raid then. Tons of jumping in them.
-
Well your character can jump, did you think they'd not utilize that in the game?
-
Oh, this is nothing. You haven't experienced the ultimate form of hell until you've done jumping puzzles in WORLD OF WARCRAFT.
-
If you're looking for people to play with, I'll be able to play in ~2 weeks
-
Don't ever raid..I'm guessing you didn't do all the house of wolves missions ? There is a jumping puzzle in one of those ,too...I hate to say it,but destiny isn't really for casuals
-
Seriously? This just means you suck at jumping in general, not that there's something wrong with the game. And who doesn't like Mario? Monsters, that's who.
-
With a game largely built around jump abilities, how could you not anticipate jumping mechanics in levels? Many story missions (especially in DLCs) have it as well as every raid. I'd just practice at it more, its not too bad. Or at least switch to a titan or something if platforming bugs you that much

Edited by DoomAmplified: 9/30/2016 8:13:59 PMThe jumping puzzles in the two raids will have you laughing then.
-
did you think you would never jump. using your vertical space in this game is very important in both pve and pvp. perhaps mario kart would be better as opposed to any shooter game
-
So you don't like jumping? That's the issue here?
-
Is this is an actual serious post? Just wait till you do VoG or King's Fall lol
-
Warlock jumps suck. As a hunter, and someone who grew up on games like Mario, I love those platforming parts. Bungie, don't listen to this guy. Give us more platforming, and more challenging ones at that :)
-
Shooters not only require shooting, but positioning... Destiny has increased aerial mobility when compared to most other shooters, it is quite fitting to that the developers task players with platforming. It is almost a demonstration of the physics engine implemented, having players jump through an obstacle course to reach a goal. All that said, just wait for the reimagined vault of glass, the tears of rage will ensue.

Games always been like this. Its been two years.
-
The good news is that once you get past these annoying (I like em but I respect your viewpoint) sections using a warlock, should you ever start a hunter and a Titan you'll have a much easier time of it. If you have enough upgrade nodes on your warlock to choose from, make sure you have your agility as high as possible and that you're not using blink. That helped me. Good luck homie!
-
What class are you playing. Warlocks make it rough since they floof everywhere. Titan/Hunter for platforming mastery
-
Wow. You must really suck at jumping. I bet you are on a warlock.
-
I sure can bet that you're not good at Mario either.

Swat The Bot
No longer active on Bungie.net. - old
So...what are we discussing here? Rants belong on Facebook/Twitter not on forum boards since they lack discussion value. -
Its really not that hard to learn how to do that stuff, and there really is not much of it other than in the raids. Just practice a bit. The jumping is in there because it is an additional challenge. I get you aren't used to it, but once you get used to it, it isn't that bad.
