Even you are entitled to your opinions. Far be it from me to call you out as a moron. Your username kind of says it all anyway.

  • You say I'm entitled to an opinion after you tried to thrash somebody's faith. I don't even share the same faith but I know it's important for them to believe in it, so don't be an ass to them and don't try to ruin things

  • I said nothing about the gentleman's faith. I critiqued his belief that God communicates with the faithful via Destiny's RNG reward system. Believing in the possible existence of a God who created the entire universe is one thing. Believing that God sends messages through video games (when a burning bush would be much more direct and unmistakable) is another. That is a classic example of F.E.A.R. Humans seek and impose patterns on random events. It is the only way we can cope with what is an essentially random and meaningless world. This is why people blow on the dice before rolling them or wear lucky hats to play cards, and why they refuse to open the materials chest in the Vault of Glass. None of these things really change the odds of a good or bad outcome, but some people somewhere think they do. I'm glad if the OP, and the person I replied to, and you have some belief that brings you happiness and comfort- but you should realize that God, if there is one, is probably far too busy running the Universe, keeping the physics running, and plotting the vectors of the Big Bang to also manipulate video games for his followers. If he's got that kind of time on his/her/its hands, I'd rather it were spent preventing airliner crashes or tsunamis. Maybe do something about climate change. Or give Trump a heart attack. Tell you what- if I hear on CNN tomorrow that Trump suffered a fatal heart attack, I'll go back to church. Otherwise, still an atheist, but keeping an open mind.
