Stuff of Nightmares...

So last night me and two buddy's were grinding some trials on an already completed flawless card to try get the new emblem. We don't go flawless all that often so it was a bit of an event for us. It was late here in Australia and obviously the matchmaking is the way it is so we were getting double matched against people we'd already played, and it was pretty sweaty at times but we were winning so no huge drama. Then the triple threat arrived. Three striker titan's, all tier 5 discipline, all running Armamentarium and lightening grenades. We collectively groaned and got down to business, battling through a veritable electrical storm to finally beat them 5-3. We cheered a little and settled down the watch the oscillating "searching/evaluating" screen, but no: instant match up - our three crackly friends were back to even the score. We spawned in and waved, "hi guys, guess you're grinding too huh?" no response, and to our horror we were spawning outside on Twilight Gap. We knew what was coming, but it was still ridiculous in its stupidity. For the next what seemed like eternity those three goddam titan's sat on the cap point and threw a never ending barrage of lightening at every wall they could see. We couldn't even get close, and when we did, thanks to Skorri they had as steady a supply of supers as they did grenades. It was gruelling, and try as we might they took it to full time every round and won the game with fewer gunfights than there are explanations of most of the story of Destiny. We were pissed. It felt cheap, but we felt there was little we could do. Back to orbit, our perfect run spoiled but with a bit of life left in the card. Sip of the coffee, start the matchmaking up again. "Ding" Guess who's back? Back again? Three blind mice. Nah but we nearly quit: this shit again? Seriously? I don't mind losing when I get outplayed or I'm not playing well but this was just dumb stuff. We stayed however, those -blam!-ers had been bagging the entire game they beat us on so this had become a grudge match, a tie breaker. We were coming to melt their cheese. We spawned inside, and waved again. They danced and shadow boxed and taunted while we dashed for centre and braced for a storm, but when it came we forced them into gunfights and didn't let them dig in, didn't let them get comfortable, and admittedly we now had the positional advantage, but it was still a hard slog, and by the time we finally ended their cards for them it was a solid 5-4 win our way, and one we think we earned the hard way. Now my point is this: lightening grenades aren't OP, Armamentarium isn't OP, I don't want things banned or nerfed or removed. Tripling down on subclasses and exotic armour pieces isn't allowed in tournament play but this is trials, we do what we want. What I want to know is how do you win that? It felt unwinnable. They'd put up cheesy electrical walls we couldn't breach and I want to know what you guys would've done? Yes we had tether, yes we used it and won a couple rounds but I wanna know: how would you have dealt with it? Stay toxiC

 • To be honest a team of one subclass is the most deadly of them all. Regardless of subclass, they all bring something to the playing field. But me being the Titan that I am, I've learned to counter-act this power of lightning with a couple maneuvers. Radar: You can confuse their grenade placements with your map movement and mobility. Staying in a compacted room is an easy grenade to the face. Always assume your enemy is going to start with the same tactic as before and you should overcome them. Sniping: I've been killed so many times blatantly throwing lightning grenades and not paying attention. If they keep throwing their grenades from (around) the same position you can find their Guardian and take off their head. Grenades: You can always counter their grenades with your own dependent on your situation. These are just a couple tips that I would like to share. But I can feel you pain.
