If I don't get a hit I. On the boss, I get no rewards from what I've seen. So if there are three asshats camping with axes, the boss dies instantly before the orb opens to get a shot in.
And I think about 1/2 of my forge attempts have ended waiting on the door to open after dying.

Don't need to hit the boss. It's been confirmed.

I once walked into an event once the boss was dying and got a but not forgotten, without a hit on the boss.
