First of all I would to point out that comparing the Forge to the year one Nightfall is not fair. If that's still how the the Nightfall worked that would be one thing. However the Nightfall no longer boots you back to orbit when you wipe. Bungie changed that because they felt it overly encouraged playing it safe. Moreover I personally think your argument only makes sense if the rewards were greater if you soloed it, which they are not. A solo player has to deal with the same enemies in the same amount of time a group does, but without the benefit of being able to die like a member of the group can. Also as an aside. I have almost never seen a group of players wipe at the Forge. It is absurdly easy to just wait in a corner for everyone to spawn back in. If they do fail, it is due to time out.

  • 1. The comparison is fair. Because in both activities, at team wipe is/was considered to be a complete failure of the activity. In the Year 1 Nightfall, you got booted back to orbit and had to start the strike over completely (which is why people played it so safe). In Archon's Forge, it ends the event....and you lose the offering that started it. 2. The content was not intended to be soloed. The number of enemies does not scale (AFAIK). Someone else has to revive you if you die in order for you to respawn in the fight...and NO allowances were made for solo players dying. As another poster stated here, People act as if Bungie OWES them the ability to solo every bit of content. They don't. This is end-game content. It gives end-game rewards. It is a public event that was designed to be completed by ad hoc teams of multiple player. If you wish to solo it, then that means accepting the added level of difficulty and the increased risk of failure. But also the greater sense of accomplishment when one is successful. 3. I've seen wipes. Its usually because people who were under-leveled were trying to do Perfected events. They wiped because they were too squishy and got taken out by the adds. Or they weren't able to do enough damage to the boss and ran out of time. 1 But an argument can be made that it isn't difficult enough for the rewards it gives....which is why I am so strongly against it being watered down even further, and removing the of the primary elements of difficulty from it.
