Exotic shard issue..
Bungie, if you're reading this..exotic shards are too difficult to acquire now.
It's almost like you don't actually want people to use their weapons.
Which coincidentally would explain why ammo disappears when you switch guns.
I don't get it..

That said, imo the best solution is to eliminate the need for an exotic shard when upgrading an exotic to another exotic.
I mean if you break it down you get a shard anyway right, so what's the big deal?
Infusing a legendary or below to an exotic should of course be what the shards are required for.
When I get an exotic drop, I mostly don't want to have to level up my gun all over again.
I just want to upgrade and have fun.
Isn't that the point of a game anyway?
So please, let's make this happen yes?
Oh, and Xur should always sell shards as well.

I wish that when you infuse an exotic into a legendary a shard would also appear... Oh well.

9 RepliesIt's not that hard to get shards really. If you have one shard and max glimmer, I recommend to buy a heavy telemetry. Use it, then go to the exotic weapons kiosk and purchase any exotic heavy. Equip each heavy and use about 6 motes to fully fill in the exp. circles. DO NOT PURCHASE THE UPGRADES. As it is not needed because you will get two shards for the price of one.

1 ReplyI completely agree dude. I've always thought it would make more sense if you didn't need a shard to infuse an exotic with an exotic. It would also help out to have xur sell them. Personally I don't get many shards and I'd like to be able to infuse my favorite exotics and actually use them instead of waiting until I max out my LL so I can get them there with the lowest cost.

I see a lot of complaints about this but I don't get it. I run the raid and get at least 2 useless exotics per week per character. So I just shard those. How are people out of shards? And this is the minimum I may get more from strikes and the minimal PVP I play.

Buy a year 2 heavy and a telemetry and and use the motes to fully unlock the nodes but dont actually upgrade it. Dismantle rinse repeat and you can get plenty of shards that way

2 RepliesDo not upgrade your current stock of exotics. When you get a higher light version, dismantle the original and level the new weapon. Don't unlock the percs, just fill the circles. Repeat until it drops at 400 then keep. You get 2 exotic shards every time and spend zero! Only costs motes and telemetry! Note: do not dismantle the quest exotics! They will not drop, ever...

I can logon and have ten exotic shards in less than five minutes. I'm guessing the method has been posted many times below. This is not an issue. That said, I don't disagree that Xur should sell again.

38 RepliesBuy a heavy weapon. Costs you 1 shard and 2500 glimmer. Equip it. Set off a heavy weapon telemetry. Use 6 motes of light to unlock it all the way. Do not actually upgrade it, just unlock all the upgrades. Dismantle it. Receive 2 exotic shards and some motes of lite (often 3). Voila, exotic shards ad infinitum...

I agree xur should sell hem again. I understand you can buy a heavy from the kiosk and level it up and break it down but for new players that do not have a heavy in the kiosk unlocked it is hard to acquire shards. There is no reason xur can't sell them again. My opinion.

Xur sells shards every week. It is trapped inside of the exotic items he sells. You just buy one or more of the exotic items and then dismantle it. Easy peazy

Which is worth more? 1. 7 Strange Coins, or 2. Around 2,500 Glimmer and 2-3 Motes of Light? You can buy Exotic Shards from Xûr for 13 Strange Coins, but I don't know why you would. I don't even know why you would for 7 Strange Coins.

Shards are easy to get. All you need is the glimmer, a heavy telemetry, 6 motes of light and go buy a super good advice. Max it out shard it and repeat not that hard to do. 6 motes per with the telemetry active and you net 2 shards when you scrap it. Main reason I always keep at least one shard for that purpose.
