Thinking fast, JJ's face goes from the smile of slightly drunken stupor, to the scowl of deeply-rooted sadness. "As a child, my parents abandoned me and my sister. We were taken to an orphanage, which was absolutely horrible. We were abused. Eventually, we were adopted, but we were of the age where that didn't really matter. On the day of my eighteenth birthday, my sister and I went on a hiking trip... And she fell from the mountain, into a tar pit. Right in front of me. I sat there for so long, I felt like a day had passed. Eventually, I managed to gather myself and walk away. I called the police once I got signal. Then... I was on my own. My adopted parents only took me in because I was a packaged deal with my sister;so they turned me away. So, I turned to whiskey. It was the only thing that didn't criticize me. Didn't hate me to the core. So, I drank more and more until I couldn't see straight, and... and... ugh." JJ then puts both of his arms on the table, and rested his head on them, concealing his face. He then heaved his chest, as if he was sobbing.
-
"That's deep man." "Yeah, like that's really sad." multiple people start talking about it everyone keeps telling their story but nobody's matches up with the Guardian's
-
" Well, at least I have a career in acting if I ever feel like it. Nobody matches up with the Guardian, though. Maybe he isn't here, or he's just not a part of the group..." As JJ was thinking all of this to himself, he began to slow the sobs, and then picked his head up. He then spoke out loud. "I... I need a second. Where's the bathroom?"
-
Just down the hall, first door on the right. they point to a hallway
-
JJ gets up. And walks to the doorway. Once he's past the threshold and unable to be seen, however, he eavesdrops on the conversations for a couple more seconds.
-
you hear the leader of the group "We lost another member today." then you hear someone else "Who?" Leader- Boozer. Other Person- Almost impossible to quit with a name like that. Leader- I know, I just hope he did quit drinking and we helped him.
-
"So, he calls himself 'Boozer?' That's like saying 'Hey, look over here, I'm a raging alcoholic!' JJ continues to listen, trying to discern his possible locations. A bar would be far too obvious, but he may just have to check if he couldn't get anymore information.
-
Leader- Maybe we should go check on him. Other person- Yeah! Do you know where he lives? Leader- Yep. Let's go. they start to leave
-
As soon as JJ hears the door open, he comes out from the hallway, and begins to follow them as the door shuts. He catches the sight of one of the person's shoes, which he uses to regain sight of the person and the leader once they've left. He then begins to tail them, trying to remain unseen.
-
they go to his house "Ya know, he had a crazy story he told us all. Apparently he got powers from his drink and it was a family recipe." "I'd believe it. Have you been to the Dojo right up the mountain?" "No. Why?" "If you ever go there you'll find it's not hard to believe someone getting powers from a drink. I saw someone up there with magic pants, a person who could teleport, a person who could turn into a dragon, and a robot who could do... well nothing." they arrive at the house and knock
-
JJ watches on as they open the door, beginning to approach. He intends to arrive as soon as the door opens. He begins to adjust his weapons, just in case.
-
you see a fat man with a good sized red beard and bald head he's got a purple sash around his torso(that's it, no shirt) and a purple skirt like thing(ya know what the Romans wore and stuff?) he's got lots of red chest hair... he also has a huge mug full of some drink in his left hand and a wooden club in his right "Yello." he burps in their face
-
"Eugh... that is one ugly bastard." JJ continues approaching, uncaring if he's seen by the point. He's found the man he's looking for. He walks up behind the two members of the alcoholic group, making it seem as if he just happened to have business with the gigantic man, and the two others just happened to be there. He simply waits his turn, listening to the conversation and not gaining the attention of the two men. The giant, red-bearded man could see him perfectly, however.
-
Leader- BOOZER!!! Other- I THOUGHT YOU QUIT!!! Boozer- Eh, what can I say? I get powers... he takes a huge drink from the mug and turns ripped, grows great hair, and loses his beard Boozer- Hehe... Leader- What the f- Other- WE LIKE TO KEEP IT PG HERE! SHUTUP! Leader- What's PG about alcohol!? Other- Fair point.... Boozer- Get out of here, all of you! the 2 leave whispering about him
-
Instead of leaving, JJ steps up to Boozer's doorstep, smiling. "You know, I can't even begin to imagine how they thought someone with the name of Boozer would drop alcohol..."
-
You saying I can't do it?
-
Sensing the danger in his voice, JJ immediately backpedals. "No, I just think that you'd be less inclined to do it. I certainly would, if the beer gave me powers. Anyway, I've been asked to find you. I'm sure you remember the Blobs? If I remember the briefing correctly, you and your Guardian brethren swore to protect the Blobs, and they need you now."
-
Heh. Those jello tasting buggers? I just fought for them on their home planet and they escaped alive. What do they need help with now?
-
"They're being hunted again, and they're caught in a civil war with a man who supposedly wants to give them protection. They accuse him of stealing their freedom, of controlling them. Some decided to side with this man, while others escaped the walls. I happen to be aligned with the rebels that escaped." JJ watched Boozer intently as if impatient for a response. "So, will you help them once again?"
-
A civil war? I ain't bout dat life bruh. I'd have to hurt other blobs. Not my job. My job is the exact opposite.
-
"I'm not asking you to hurt the other Blobs. I'm not even asking you think about hurting them. I'm asking you to defend them from the man attempting to control them, and his non-blob forces. I've been kidnapped and taken to his place first hand. Not a single Blob soul was guarding him. Also, I think they're still being hunted by whatever you fought before. So, I'll ask again. Will you help them?" JJ stands before Boozer, determined to help his cause, even if he's supporting it sheerly out of sympathy.
-
Listen kid, it's not a civil war if he doesn't have Blobs. And the only way it can end is with some dead Blobs. I can't do that. But, I might be able to consider it if you get me something, a drink. Family recipe that was never found. Makes another drink but the side effect is uh... it's really strong and never random. Always one effect.
-
"Fair point. Anyway, do you have any idea, even so much as a vague memory, where I could find the recipe?"
-
Yeah. The bar here. The owner has it somewhere and won't say where. He stole it from me.
-
"Ah. In that case, I'll get it from him politely. And if he refuses, I'll ask... politely." With the final word, JJ motions to his sword. "Don't worry, no one's gonna die. Unless they try to kill me. I generally don't like to kill, unless provoked. I'll be back with that recipe." And with that, JJ walked away from Boozer's house, headed to the bar he was told to seek out. When he eventually found it, he paused out front, taking in the front entrance.
