Never knew you were a mechanic.
Jackson said, amazed that she'd never told him.
Needs some work, kid.
Wilson said.
I've been building gear for a long time, and believe me, it needs work. What's she rated for in terms of ballistics?

"That was also nearly half a year ago.." She said, trailing off slightly. "I guess with Kyr dead, I don't have much to be mad at anymore. Or much reason to." "I can go back to being pissy if you'd like." She says with a chuckle.
-
I think I'm content with the new you. Little easier to talk to. he answered. Your turn.
-
"What've you been doing the past couple of months?"
-
Didn't I already tell you that? he said, looking over with a smile.
-
"You said Crow gave you some time off, but you didn't say what you were doing with it." She says with a shrug.
-
I went home for a while, relaxed for a while. Felt good being a normal human being for a while. I just sorta hung around the hometown, did enough traveling. he answered, honestly.
-
She nods, poking him in the ribs. "Your turn. This feels like grade school playing 20 questions." She seems to think for a second. "Oh wait, I didn't go to school. I killed people." She says, a chuckle escaping her lips as she makes fun of herself.

Edited by Trashcan Jesus: 10/29/2016 11:34:14 PMHe recoiled at her poking him in the side, almost moving for a non-existent knife at his hip. Noticing this, he seemed concerned, and stopped himself. Training... Christ I can't get that out of my system... Ok, so... He thought for a moment, staring back up at the ceiling. Why did you go back to Angel City? You could've stayed away and never gone back to deal with any of that, and yet you did. That was something that legitimately interested him. Why did she go back?
-
"Well, you remember the three tyrannical leaders of the city I mentioned, the Gypsies?" She questions.
-
Yeah. I believe you told me about them. If she had noticed, she hadn't said anything about his reflex that, had he had a knife, likely would have wounded her.
-
She'd noticed, but there was no reason questioning him about it. She understood the feeling. "They're dead now." She says bluntly.
-
So you went back for them? He had barely let her finish before he asked.
-
She nods. "Lodestone, Conflux, and Steelheart. Three of the most powerful people on that planet, and they're dead. They didn't leave me without parting gifts though." She smiles wryly, lifting up her shirt to reveal her stomach, which was wrapped in bandages. She rolls her shorts leg up, where blood soaked bandages were wrapped.
-
Christ... how well was any of that treated? He had shot up, and his expression was concerned. She had been wounded seriously, and seeing her like that wasn't something he was too comfortable with.
-
"Someone with a healing power did it. They're all good." She turns slightly, lifting up her shirt to reveal her back where three large knife healing wounds were, just below her bra strap. They were healing, but they still looked nasty. What the hell were these three guys capable of?
-
You're positive? I can get you back to Hereford for treatment from Clarkson's medical personnel... The more he saw, the more it pained him internally. He knew she was tough, but this was brutal. It was almost infuriating, but he knew that getting angry meant nothing.
-
"Besides the part that I got electrocuted when those knives hit me? Yeah, I'm good." She says with a chuckle. She was so nonchalant about it. "Lodestone had control over anything metal, able to manipulate and control it. Quite literally Magneto without the tacky helmet. Conflux had control over electricity, self generating and manipulating existing electricity. And Steelheart was the leader. People had been trying to kill him for twenty years. Able to turn anything to steel, shoot concussive energy blasts from his hands, fly, and quite literally invincible." Obviously he wasn't too invincible.
-
I'm just glad you're alive. The response was terse.
-
"What, you don't wanna know I didn't die? And here I thought I was gonna get to tell my tale of blood and glory." She says with a grin, that hint of cockiness ever there.
-
Blood and glory's great, but it's easier to find than someone you're willing to care about. Again, short and to the point.
-
"I'm alive Jackson." She says with a roll of her eyes, but the whole "throwing caution to the wind and if she died so be it" was still there. She still wasn't exactly cautious nor caring.
-
He sighed. Nothing was going to change her outlook, just like nothing was going to change him. Habits became personality. Still, it made him feel a little better to see that she wasn't concerned about her brush with death.
-
Edited by Will: 10/30/2016 1:18:09 AM While it was good that she wasn't concerned, it was also a bad thing. Someone not caring about throwing themselves towards death was a reckless thing. The way she'd described the Gypsies seemed like a near impossible fight, it was amazing she'd even thrown herself into the situation. Perhaps she really didn't care.
-
This had also crossed his mind. He'd been there before. Right after his father had died, he remembered being so caught up in his own hate that he didn't care about his life. He remembered screaming at Clarkson after a particularly brutal training session, telling the officer to kill him. Crow had scored a vicious swing on Jackson's lower back, and the boy doubled over, on the ground in intense pain. Clarkson had hit him a second time in the face, and drawn blood. He wondered if Riley's bravado was her attempt at suicide. Riley... if something's wrong, you know you can tell me, right?
-
She narrows her eyes at him with a smirk. "You think I wanna die? That's cute. Suicides for cowards Jackson." She says bluntly. Although, even if she had known about Jackson's incident with Crow, she would've told him the same thing.
