What part are you talking about. With crucible and archon's forge, it is kills. Switching when Lord Shaxx says they've/you almost won and when the middle dome closes will net you the right light level gear and you still get the credit of the kills you made wearing masks before then. I know for a fact that it works as that is what I did.
