Soooo, I tried the raid for the first time today. I'm 386 light, competent, and just have fun playing. I joined a group that was doing a normal raid and getting monitors. ( Figured I'd get the raid exotic... cause why not right?)
Upon joining, they were at the first boss. The leader asked if anyone had not done the raid. I of course said, "no, but i pick things up quickly... give me the basics." Immediately another guardian started complaining, the leader stood up for me and said "give him a chance." I was grateful. I had NO issues in any of the encounters, until the final boss. It did take me one try to get the picture with Aksis, but then I figure it out.
To make a long story short (sorry I know that was a lot already) the elitist prick that wanted me kicked from the get go, continuously screwed up and then had the nerve to blame others. People started quitting because of him and we never finished the raid.
So my question is, why are people just so rude and... for a lack of a better word...just so douchey? Just be civil man. It's just a game. I got to 386 without ever doing the raid, and I don't think I'll ever do it again.
Edit: Appreciate the supportive responses so far

Well because a large portion of this community has no idea how to play this game. No one has time every time to teach some new Guardian. Sometimes you want to just raid and get it done and news threaten that. When someone is new, why don't they watch a video on the raid, so they have a much better idea instead of waitkng for someone to explain it to them?

If ur on ps4 I'll help u through I enjoy helping others get it done it's fun to hear people's reactions

Edited by Imperial Pear: 11/1/2016 2:11:43 AMIf you or anyone else that sees this thread is on PS4 feel free to add me. My buddies and I will gladly help you through the raids. As long as you are willing to listen and follow directions (and have some patience) we can get you through it. My PSN is the same as my username. Just include a message in your request so I know what it's for.

You had a run in with one bad player, and somehow that means the community is "cancer"?

Theres always That guy in every raid team. Its probably the same guy I keep getting! The minute I blind jump into a team he's there doing his silverback thing, beating his chest, excerpting his dominance in a paper thin masquerade to cover his own inadequacies. Prick is handy with the team insults every time he dies. Treat lfg like your first day at borstal and walk up to the biggest scariest gorilla in the yard and twat him square in the face. -blam!- I hate Raids

If your on xbox one add me ill help you with monitors we screw up but we have fun

If Xbone then hit me up sometime. GT is iPodAwesomeness. Not an elegiac prick but warning, my voice is a bit high.
-
If you're on Xbone then just hit me up, my GT is the same as my name. I've got some buddies I usually run it with, and I don't think we'd have any problems helping you out. Especially considering the reset is tomorrow.

Great support, wish me people on the lfg were like this haha

Kudos to that leader for letting you stay. Unless you're speed running, lack of experience shouldn't be a reason to kick anyone from a normal raid as long as they're the appropriate light level. Don't let the jerks get to you. There's plenty of people that are willing to help out and teach the raids. You just have to find them.

Same thing has happened to me in the oryx raid. As such never did finish it, probably never will....
-
Due to my work and family I cannot dedicate a couple straight hours to raid so I don't might try to form a team over the holidays no requirements required I just wouldnt mind doing a raid at least once before destiny 2 is out
-
That's human beings man. You should see how often it happens in the workplace setting
-
Kind of why matchmaking for the raid is an issue. Strikes ok no issues. But on random griefing a raid run? No fun.
-
Rather play with stoners or just mellow people in general any day. I make odd raid posts so I normally get really chill people. I've been using "need to be cool calm and collective. Be prepared for weirdness I mean like twilight zone style straight outta left field odd ball antics"
-
Do the raid. Don't let one time get you down! Turn that frown upside down! Oh, I'd remove the word "Douchey." I said it in a post and got a warning from the ninjas. I really wasn't intending to be insulting either. ;)
