RoI book - Golden Ticket - Complete Trials Passage

Hello all, I'm not a Trials player but I'd like to know what "Complete Trials Passage" Means. It's the only objective left for me in The Crucible section of the book. So the passage keeps track of Wins/losses. What is then considered "Complete" for the book entry? 5 wins? 7? Do the losses count as "Completing" (I don't really think so but for the sake of just asking). Many of my PSN friends list do not play destiny so it's just me and my kids and we only have 2 PS4s. There's a couple of people I can reach out to but I want to have a clear idea what "Complete" means. Any input is appreciated. I realize this will likely be a challenge for me. I'm not an unskilled player but Trials is a different beast.

  • Took me 3 cards(all loses) to complete it. So -blam!-ing happy its over. I think they put ToO in the book to get those ToO numbers up. Not a lot of players played it(elites excluded). Should have left it out the book imo.

    • I resent this part of the book. The Bungie PVP designer himself said that Trials is intended to be for the best of best and not for casuals. So why put that in the book? Now you have casuals in your "Elite" tournament giving out easy wins & as a result "damaging/lowering" the sanctity of it. Trials players themselves hate suicide teams as they consider it boosting.

I played Trials for the first time to finish this. I posted "doing bounties - no mic" and I finished it in less than 2 hours. 3 losses x 5 tickets = done. I think I got 1-2 wins. All the rest were loss. But I got some great gear and Doctrine of Passing. So I will continue to do Trials even if I lose all the time.

      • Can't say I care about that stupid book at all. I don't think they gave out anything worthwhile for it, so why bother.

        • I don't agree with ToO being in the record book to begin with too. I am not a Trials player and never stepped foot in it. now they just want everyone just to play it. if they cant fix it, i'll just jump off the edge and kill myself in Trials cause I refuse to play that type of pressure trying to get flawless. I dont want an opponent standing there waiting for my to pop my head out to see if he's there and boom, i got snipped. not my type of game. If it was just 1 passage card, i wouldn't be complaining, but its 5, sitting here wasting my time and data to play to get the record book completed. I only have Trials and Hard Mode WotM Raid left to do. I like Iron banner, but its a different type of game, and you can play by yourself with randoms.

        • I was kinda wondering this too; The comments below have solidified my next LFG: Trials of Osiris -- Looking for 2 to complete ROI book. Light level unimportant. K/D unimportant. Use any weapon you choose. No mic required. Do your own thing. If you are prepared to have a half hearted stab at Trials; message for invite. Lets go lose this thing!

Back in Y2, they openly talked about creating this quest called "The Mountaintop" with the intention of getting players who didn't like PvP to play all of the different playlists. It's absolutely fair to assume this is more of the same. Personally, I find it extremely patronizing. Rather than put in the effort to make PvP palatable to a broader audience, they're just creating these little incentives to try and get their PvE player base to eat their proverbial vegetables so they can maintain a match-making pool for their PvP players. It's the epitome of laziness. If you were inclined to give Trials a shot, then, by all means, go for it. But if you just want the thing done, don't feel bad about suiciding your way through it. Don't bother with something you don't want to do. You aren't obligated to dignify their efforts if they aren't going to take them seriously.

          • A card is completed when you reach either 9 wins or 3 losses, whichever comes first. Rinse, repeat × 5

          • Complete just means your ran the card. You can either play it legit for bounties and loot. Or kill yourself until the last round for it to count until the card runs out. Takes like 15 minutes to do so the book thing doesn't take long at all to complete.

            • You just have to complete 5 passages- one completed passage is 9 wins or 3 losses - you could literally just sit around or dance and let opponents win - FYI 1 match is 5 rounds (lose 15 rounds and you've completed 1 passage)

            • Just have to finish the cards through wins or losses

              • 3 losses or 9 wins is considered a full card.
