[i]She nods happily, but she gets sad again.[/i] "I'm so late now. My punishment will be severe. Do you have a vehicle of some kind?"

"Kid, I can sprint faster than most cars can go in 2nd gear. I can carry you. It's my fault. Tell 'em that."

[i]She shakes her head.[/i] "I will take the punishment...but I'd appreciate being carried." [i]Her face turns red from embarrassment.[/i]

"Kid, least I could do after what's gonna happen to ya. I still want you to tell them I kept you help up, though. Even if you still take the punishment." [b]I lean down a bit.[/b] "Climb on, kid."

[i]Artemis slowly gets on to your back and hookers her arms around your neck.[/i] "Okay, I will." [i]She points to a far off mountain.[/i] "There's the den."

[b]I begin to sprint, and it's fast. Damn fast. I'm a Ranger, I need to be. Even with all my equipment and Artemis, I was still damn fast.[/b]

[i]Artemis becomes happy from the wind in her face. She starts to giggle and smile.[/i]

[b]Hearing the kid laughing and being happy, that kinda shit just makes me happy. I crack a smile, but don't slow down.[/b]

[i]Artemis points direction till the eventually come to a cave entrance. The entrance is 20 ft high and large bones from much larger animals are scattered at the entrance. Artemis hops off Grant's back.[/i] "Thank you! I'm actually not as late as I thought I'd be."

"Well... Can you try and get someone in there to come out and talk to me?"

[i]Artemis nods.[/i] "I'll try." [i]She runs into the cave.[/i]

[b]I wait for her to come back.[/b]

[i]An 18 ft tall, bipedal wolf with black fur identicle to Artemis' walks out.[/i]

"Hey there. Can you talk while you're like that?" [b]I had put my helmet back on, and had holstered all my weapons. Didn't want to start trouble.[/b]

[i]The wolf nods and speaks with a voice like thunder.[/i] "I am the leader of this clan, Kaegoth. You must be the one Artemis calls Grant."

"Yes I am. Grant. Ranger Grant of the New Californian Republic, 3rd battalion, Ranger Station Omega. Question, what are you going to do with Artemis for being late?"

"As an outsider you have no reason to know about clan affairs."

"Are you planning on hurting her? I've brought her all this way, I at least deserve to know that much."

"She will get the punishment she deserves. That's all you need to know, outsider."

"Well, you see, it's my fault she was late. Not hers. I had her held up. She doesn't deserve anything to happen to her right now. If anyone does, it's me. Let me tell ya what happened. She tried to pickpocket my favorite revolver off me, so she caught a fist to the face. Now, I felt bad, alright? Still do. I patched her up, and asked her a few questions. Nothing about your clan, mind. I helped her get back. Her being late is my fault, not hers."

Never caught the name of your clan."
