Artemis stops and pushes her hand away.
"I'm sorry, but I must be going."

"Well then you'd be a runt in life. Don't you want to be more than that. Be the best there could be in that clan?" Keira says, continuing to follow Artemis.
-
Artemis had already stopped walking. She nods slowly. "Yes, but sadly that's never going to happen because of my inability to...y'know..."
-
"That still doesn't mean that your bad. So what if you can't breed your kind; you could still make hybrids." Keira replies, shrugging a little bit before continuing, "Maybe you could find your true love here at the Dojo; and defy whatever 'code' you apparently had."
-
Artemis starts to cry as she shakes her head. "It's not just about finding a mate, it's about not being able to transform. I may have been the best fighter when I was younger, but without the ability to transform I'm only worthy of being a runt. I can't live without my clan and I can't turn my back on the code."
-
"Then do what all of us had to do at one point of another; defy fate, defy those chains of destiny; you could do whatever you want. This code will only stop you from unleashing your true potential." Keira responds, smiling a little bit.
-
Artemis turns around and looks you in the eyes while tears streak down her face. She seems to be getting frustrated, whether it's at you or herself or something else entirely she seemed conflicted. "I can't be anything I want! I have no potential! I'm just a worthless runt! I can't you get that?! Life is not like the stories you tell the lil' ones! it doesn't always end the way you want it! I was cursed with the inability to become a wolf and I have to live with that!" Artemis collapses onto her knees, her crying becoming intense.
-
*She ends up looking at her with a bit of pity, before a memory flashed before Keira's eyes.* "You think being a runt is bad?" She says, tears crawling across her own face. "Try being one of the only sole survivors of your only world. Your code...it's nothing compared to seeing 7.3 billion people die before your eyes. Those people...they'll kill you. They brainwashed you into thinking that you have no potential. We could see it. Most of the Dojo could see it...you just can't see it yet." She responds, tears beginning to draw across her face.
-
Artemis shakes her head. She seems to be getting angrier. "You've lost your people so you know the pain, but you still want me to lose mine?! They haven't brainwashed me, they're my family! I know as a fact I have no potential! I'll amount to nothing, I am nothing, I was nothing, and that will always be true! I love my clan! I'm happy that even though I'm such a failure I can still contribute by doing the most disgusting and unpleasant of jobs! I'm happy! I'm happy! I'm...happy..."
-
*She looks at her.* "No...you only felt pain because your family caused that pain. Made you feel every regret that you had. All we're trying to simply do...is make you feel like one of us, and not isolated from the rest of them, and certainly not alienated from the rest of the group." Keira replied, continuing to look at her.
-
Artemis stood back up with an angry expression, her eyes expressed pure rage. "My family has caused me no pain that wasn't undeserved! Maybe I don't want to be one of you outsiders! What makes you think that's what's best for me?! What gives you the authority to make that decision for me?! You're nothing, but an untrustworthy outsider!"
-
"Then you're nothing but a coward, then, for not going outside your own boundaries. So go ahead...waste your life away being a slave to the 1%, while I actually contribute to the multiverse by helping innocents not die." Keira responds, looking down toward the floor.
-
Artemis' expression changed from extreme anger to sadness. "A coward...sounds about right. My one friend called me that one time after I had taken a really bad beating when I was ten. He said I should've stuck up for myself like I used to when I was younger. He ended up dying by trying to save me from a punishment that went wrong. I could've stopped it, but I was too afraid...too much of a coward. I watched him die as I just stood there covering my face with my tail like I always do." Artemis was in tears again. "I'll just go. I'm sorry for wasting your time." She turns back around and begins to walk away with her face pointing towards the ground
-
*Keira comes after her, mostly to calm her down. At this point, she feared that either she'd leave...or that she would be turning into her worst nightmare.* "Look...you don't have to be a coward!" She yells, coming toward Artemis. "The Destroyer of Worlds...people telling you that your destined to destroy everyone.. I understood your pain."
-
Artemis stays silent as she slowly marches on. Her ears are down and her tail drooping.
-
*She sighs, as she continues on.* "You don't know the amount of pain it feels...for everyone to attack you just because they think you'll kill them."
-
Artemis shakes her head and responds with a weak voice. "I know how it feels to be used like a tool. Never allowed to rest as you do work upon work with the bare minimum of food and water. Everyone treats you like you've killed one of their family members and they're forced to let you live, but not without punishment." Artemis pulls her top off to reveal a large scar going across her chest and down her stomach. "My own father gave me this permanent scar when my mother died."
-
*Keira looks in horrible shock...though she recovers after and reminisces about her days traveling through the worlds after the destruction of her own.* "Shocker...they implanted something into me...almost like a killswitch...my emotions could get to me...and I could become the Destroyer of Worlds. I...probably will never be the same again." Keira replied, looking toward Artemis.
-
Artemis puts her top back on to cover her bare chest and sighs. "That sounds horrible, more the reason for me to leave and not be a burden to you."
-
"But that's why we must both stay together; so we may share our suffering, and form a bond beyond anyone else." She says, smiling a little more, as she clears Artemis's tears.
-
Artemis flinches from Keira's touch and takes a few steps away before Keira could do much. "A bond?"
-
"A friendship. We could stay together, and...well...be friends. We could...try to relieve our suffering here. All you need to do...is stay." Keira responds.
-
Artemis smiles. "I'd like that...but I still need to go back to the den. They're probably searching for me and they may come after you." Artemis turns around and faces Keira. "However; I shouldn't do that on an empty stomach. You think breakfast has gotten cold?"
-
"No... and even if they do come after us...we could show them just how...caring we are for people like you." She responds. "Plus...they mess with you, I'd become the Destroyer of Worlds." She responds, smiling.
-
Artemis sighs and closes her eyes. She tries to muster up some confidence. "I will agree to stay for a while to see if this is the life I want, but after I eat something I have to go back to simply say I'm alive and well. After I say I'm alive I'll come right back."
-
*She thinks about this, before shaking her head.* "Alright then. You can do that. Now, come on in; we wouldn't want a hungry person, now do we?" She responds, going back inside.
