Hey all I just want to discuss the blatant imbalance of shotguns in PvP...
Nah just kidding lol, I'm actually here to discuss potential nerfs and buffs that shotguns need to improve quality of the PvE content.
So to start off with Shotguns in PvE
Most PvE oriented Shotguns are actually pretty good for burst damage. I know for one that My full auto Occum's Razor is a blistering storm of lead. or My Matador when I need to do as much damage in one shot and I don't have the space or time to line up a shot with my sniper rifle. My problem is my Occum's Razor with no shotgun ammo perks only holds 14 round in total. That's only 2 full mags plus 2 extra rounds on a full auto fast fire rate Shotgun. Honestly that is too small of a reserve for something that is actually a pretty good shotgun for PvE. I burn through that in less than 5 seconds and now I'm scrambling for ammo, which is pretty sad because I used this shotgun in the WOTM raid and it performed quite admirably but for such a versatile gun (I was dropping the scorch captain in a single burst of 4-5 rounds, while when I had ammo I was able to deal with tiny hoards of enemies)
The thing I am getting at here is I want to be able to stand against a teeming mass of Thrall and reliably engage them without the fear of RNG screwing me over and giving me nothing more than 2-3 shots a brick. With a fast fire rate shotgun I want to feel like I have a blistering storm of lead with the pull of the trigger with ammo enough to keep the storm going for more than one tiny engagement.
Now with the Matador... Clearly the shotgun range nerfs were not as effective against it as many would hope. so how about a unique nerf to rangefinder which arguable is the root to the problem to the extreme ranged shotguns. My idea make ADS slower and weapon handling is reduced when Rangefinder is active. Your guardian is sitting in a corner scoped in on a doorway and all of a guardian crosses the threshold and you reactivity pull the trigger. In today's meta that would guarantee a kill but if the proposed nerf is implemented an agile guardian will be able to dodge the shot and retaliate.
