So I've been trying to find a voidwalker build thar suits me, and holy shit this one is effective. It shines in both PVE and PVP for its ability to absolutely tear through anything in its path. It takes the age old "Glass Cannon" build to the extreme.
~~~
Its a very simple but deceptively effective build. You are going to be in enemies face, no way around it. If you like to sit back and snipe, than this is not the build for you. It revolves around the idea of ALWAYS having a energy drain effect. For those of you who don't know, Energy drain recharges your grenade at a faster rate. Doesnt sound too special, does it? Well lets get down to the details of this hidden gem, and then ill explain why it is so unnecessarily powerful.
~~~
GEAR::
You want to max discipline. Point blank. The ability to throw out numerous amounts of heat seeking void missles is the entire point of this build. Without discipline maxed out, you are handicapping yourself, and this build will never be able to shine. Nuff said.
You can choose to put points into either strength or intelligence once your discipline is maxed, but I prefer strength. It allows you to get more energy drains, which is what we want. Remeber without having a constant energy drain, this is just your average purple blinking death wielder.
Okay now for the bread and butter of this build. Judging by the title one could guess that this build involves the Nothing Manacles. Well that guess would be correct. The Nothing Manacles turn one of your weakest abilities into an absolute carcass creator. The exotic perk allows you to weild 2 scatter grenades that track enemies." WELL WHATS SO GREAT ABOUT THAT?" You may ask, and to which I would reply as follows. You will kill a fellow gaurdian with one throw. Now yes, other classes have dedicated sticky grenades, and yes they are effective, but require precision. The most trivial player can laugh off a poorly thrown sticky. They need to hit you to kill. This is not the case with a scatter grenade assisted by the NM's. You can throw your nade in the general direction of a guardian or enemy AI and the burst of confetti death will track them and kill them. Now you still have to be somewhat accurate, but not nearly to the degree of you every day shticky. Long story short, these gaunts make this build. If you doubt the effectiveness, try them out and watch your kills shoot through the roof.
Now this build only requires one other piece of gear to work as intended, and the would be the Exotic auto rifle Monte Carlo. Now some may scoff at this choice, but I laugh at their ignorance. " BUT BATTLEPANTS, THE HIGH RATE OF FIRE LOW DAMAGE AUTO RIFLES ARE TERRIBLE. THEY TAKE LIKE 22 MILLION SHOTS JUST TO KILL A SIMPLE DREG."
Not the case my dear information gatherers. This gun will TEAR through just about any enemy that is not a boss, but It requires the ability to consistently get headshots. You have to be accurate while at close range, surrounded by twelve enemies. It is a must. Otherwise you are giving the naysayers a reason to nay. But if you manage to get those headshots, the high fire rate of this weapon will leave nothing standing in your path, whether it be crucible or raid.
The exotic perk on the Monte Carlo is what we're really here for though. It allows any damage you do with the gun to recharge your melee attack, and has the chance to fully charge it as well with every shot fired..
Now I can hear your bleating cries of confusion already, but be at rest my squishy warlock sheep, I shall explain.
The void walker melee is called energy drain, and it allows your grenade to charge faster for a period of time after hitting an enemy with it. Starting to make sense?
I stand strongly beside this gun, becuse simply put, it is what makes this build over powered. You will constantly have an energy drain buff if you activate your melee whenever it is available. With your already maxed out discipline, your grenades will be charging almost as fast as a sunsinger's WITH RADIENT SKIN ACTIVE. That is right people, a constant never-ending mini radience. This smg is what places you above any other confetti warlock for its ability to give you just one more way to activate your energy drain effect, and throw even more grenades.
The rest of the gear is irrelevant, but tey to get something that recharges your melee with grenade kills and vice versa. Effective, but not 100% necessary.
PERKS::
Grenade - Scatter Grenade obviously
Jump - Blink. Hands down the best jump in the game. It opens doors that are closed for other jumps. Striker titan uses his super? Blink. Enemy team aqquires the heavy ammo and are shooting off rockets as if the Mongolian s were attacking? Blink. Tanniks stomps the ground in a raging hissy fit because you decided to slap him in the face or are blasting his ass with a shottie? Blink. Etc. Etc. Etc.
Super - Use whichever works best for you. They are all effective, and each has its own use, dpending on the user. I prefer shatter seeing as you are going to be in close proximity to whoever you are laying a beating down upon, and it allows you a wider range to your explosion of space magic, allowing more destruction and chaos.
Melee - Now this one depends. On one hand surge can help you out in a sticky situation caused by your constant slapping of the face, by giving you increased weapon and movement speed. Being able to ADS faster than your dead enemies teammate is invaluable, and this boost in speed makes it easier to escape if shit hits the fan. On the other hand Life Steal instantly heals you. I can't tell you how many times this has saved my ass. It allows you to take damge, secure the kill, heal yourself, and be ready for the next shoulder charging titan that comes running around that corner. Its up to you VoidBros, but I prefer life steal.
Skill Changer 1 - I would suggest arcane force. It allows you to take more damage, and doesn't completely diminish your agility. Considering how close you are going to be to most enemies armor should be first priority, followed by recovery. With this set up you will be able to take more of a beating, and recover from said beating faster.
Modifier 1 - The Hunger. This perk is pivotable to this build. It increases the energy drain duration from 5 seconds to 8.5 seconds. Considering you'll be getting your melee back every 4-6 seconds while shooting wizards and vandals in the face, this allows you to stack energy drain pretty much indefinitely. This guide isn't worth reading if you don't want my opinion, and my opinion is to pick the hunger. Your confetti throwing gandalf won't be half as effective without it.
Skill Changer 2 - Divine Order. For inquiries about this decision, refer to skill Changer 1. Thanks.
Modifier 2 - And now for the piece that puts this beatiful deadly puzzle together. Embrace the Void. "Damaging enemies with Nova Bomb or ANY GRENADE TRIGGERS THE ENERGY DRAIN EFFECT. " Yeah. Now you get it. Every scatrer grenade you throw charges your next scatrer grenade, and considering that you have two of them.... well lets just say you'll be pressing the left bumper button an awful lot.
~~~
Basic Rotation - In Pve your cycle should look something like :
Grenade > Melee > Face shooting > Grenade > Melee > Facial Reconstruction > Grenade
Take Into mind that this all happens in about 10 seconds and roughly 75-90% of that blood thirsty mob of vex have tasted your purple justice, and are now dead.
In PvP its more situational and you will have to rely on your gun skills a little bit more. Use grenades whenever possible, seeing as they are like a constant heavy ammo drop, aka free kills. Use melee whenever you end up a little too close to that bum rushing shotgunner, and above all HEADSHOTS. Headshots win gunfights. The monte Carlo fires so fast that the most waggly fingered of players can manage a kill. Aim true and the sacred rite of T-bagging your opponents dead corpse shall be yours.
So that's about it guys, two cigarettes later and minor carpal tunnel have produced this lenghty rambling of whimsicals. Thanks for sticking through this mountain of text to read my thoughts on the most OP build for voidwalkers. Love it, hate it, compliment and criticize it. Let me know how it could improve, or how much it improved your game.
I bid you au'deu fellow gaurdians.
Ok so I was thinking about this, storm callers have perpetual charge which restores grenade energy on melee kills and melee energy on grenade kills so imagine running that in pve specifically using that and let's say you don't get the melee kill, monte carlo kicks in. Just a thought
