Him saying pardon obviously wasn't meant to be taken for its literal definition, if someone saying "pardon" is offensive to you then you should probably read up more on usage of words in different contexts ,he obviously meant it as confusion, as if to ask them to elaborate as to why they randomly want him to leave for no good reason.
