I used to suffer from this. But reloading at the wrong time is fatal in PvE and PvP. So, with great willpower, I overcame this problem. I forced myself to check my surroundings for close by enemies before I hit reload. And lo, it worked a treat. Fewer and fewer deaths while reloading unnecessarily. Now of course I have the problem on sometimes not reloading when I actually need to. I go to shoot something, one bullet pops out and then I'm auto reloading. Dead. For close up (blunt) chain saws, auto rifles sure do lack magazine size...
