For this poll, exclude the spinoffs and remakes. In my opinion, generation IV was the best by far. Here's why:
-plenty of new Pokémon (not that less than 70 crap that we got from generation VI)
-great looking Pokémon (not the stupid looking ones we got now like the trash bag and lei)
-ALL new starters are great (no lame pigs, chestnuts, or "pop stars")
-first truly hard-to-get Pokémon
-first truly evil villain team introduced (team rocket is evil? Give me a break...)
-first haunted house and ghosts
-best storyline yet
-mining for fossils
-distortion world
-toughest champion yet
-most legendaries introduced at once, and all are cool (the singing girl from generation V and the automaton from generation VII are NOT cool)
-strongest Pokémon lore wise yet
-added a bunch of ACTUAL evolutions (not this mega/primal/regional crap that we got nowadays)
-first Pokémon that would give people nightmares
-first game that was super easy to cheat in via action replay
... and much more. So, do you agree or not, either way, voice why!
EDIT: I'm seeing a lot of people voting for generation I, and my question to them is WHY. Generation I is not in color, has a bunch of game-breaking glitches, has a nearly non-existent story, and only 151 Pokémon.
EDIT: I've noticed that many of you are simply voting and not commenting. Please at least do a bump after you vote, just so we can keep the post going.

Edited by What I Look Like: 11/30/2016 4:33:12 PMAfter all the recent releases.. it's rough but Platinum IMO. I still play that shit on my phone as a matter of fact. It's timeless and the game doesn't stop after the elite 4. Pokémon games that only have the battle tower or battle island after the elite 4 were irritating tbh. In Platinum I bought a house and a Baby Grand Piano. Ya boy is flossin. I wish Aegislash was a part of Gen 5 though. Damn thing is a beast but it's several regions away from my favorite. edit - gen 1 gets almost zero love from me because as thoughtless as some of the newer pokemon are.. Gen 1 had some really stupid shit. Grimer and Muk? Really? Why does Dragonite look like a 3 year old child with a gut?

Cynthia has the best... um... "fan art" and shes from gen 4 Sooo....
gen 4
I'd say 3 if omega ruby and alpha sapphire count?

Edited by GTLargo21: 11/30/2016 6:01:24 PMGeneration II You had 2 regions with the gyms plus a battle with Red.
Dragonite, Tyranitar, Gyarados, Gengar, Typhlosion and Lugia FTW

I enjoyed Heart Gold/Soul Silver the best.
Obviously gen 2. Going to Kanto again was the best thing ever

I'm gonna say Gen 3(gen 4 close 2nd), but gen 7 is REALLY doing it for me. I really love all of its additions, the story is good, team skull is da bomb dot com, the characters are memorable, yeah! I think battle royals could have played a bigger part in the game, woo!
I think having Looker appear at the end was really interesting, and I'm excited to see where it goes. I wanna hunt those ultra beasts!
Soul Silver was my favorite.

Sun and moon is my favorite for a long time. The new story setup was very refreshing and I really liked the new mons and alolan forms. Along with deviating from the 8 gyms format they did something we've wanted them to do for a long time. GOT RID OF HMS!!! That alone has to make gen 7 higher up on anyone's list lol. Although hau was the biggest bitch boy of a "rival" we've ever had. They really need to go back to blue and silver type of rivals. Guys you see show up and think to yourself "I want to destroy this dude!!!" Hau shows up and I just think "awww that's cute it thinks it can pokemon"

Edited by Grim6I9: 11/26/2016 6:43:39 PMGen 2 thanks to map size, 16 gyms and a rival that actually seemed to hate you. I like competition I don't want some buddy buddy experience and Id rather handle boss fights alone instead of tag teaming with an npc that defaults to a knock off Naruto face with brown hair and a pony tail. People that hate on Gen one are usually the younger players. And too whine about things that Noone noticed or cared about since there was nothing else to compare it to at the time is just silly. That's like saying the first Porsche was absolute garbage compared to the newest 918 and the first one just shouldn't have existed despite the first leading to the eventual existence of the newest model. As the games have progressed they've gotten easier and easier and dumbed down everything from fights to the length of caves. Crystal specifically was my favorite of Gen 2, only games I didn't play were bw/bw2 mostly cause the graphics gave me a headache. There's been plenty of welcome additions over time but the rivals/friends don't make me feel challenged at all. Hell this gen the "friend" picks the weaker starter and there are cutscenes out the ass. Diamond amd pearl didn't really have much that stood out to me other than the underground. Edit and why the hell does the friend always heal you before you fight? May was your friend in rse she didn't heal shit. They baby the players so hardcore it's embarrassing.

This gen is going to be my favorite for a while. It allowed me to get my first shiny after years of farming and never getting one on other games.
-
2 is my favorite gen added 100 more to original added more dragons, dark type, 16 gyms, took forever to beat and had the best endgame boss Mt silvers red

I agree about gen 4. I just felt it was an all round solid generation for Pokemon!
-
Gen 7 has a lot of cool things about it. I've enjoyed Pokémon a lot more since it came out
-
Gen7 for my boi Alolan dugtrio

Honestly Sun/Moon may be the best one, in terms of games. -Actually emotional story, kept me interested -Team Skull -Island Challenge replaces gyms, mixing it up and doing it well, imo -Pokemon as a whole are awesome, every gen has its stupid ones -You can actually complete the dex, it isn't easy, but I don't have to spend my life on GTS Just putting it out there, but mainly because of the story. There is real emotion in this one and it is amazing. --As an aside, I have played every single game aside from Red/Blue. I started my adventure at Yellow.

I have a very big appreciation for generation 3. I played then the most, and have ruby, emerald, and omega ruby. Omega ruby was my first 3ds Pokemon game. I jumped from a ds lite to a 3ds. Personally I think it has Good starters Cool looking legendaries Ok storyline Islands (Unique Towns) A good cast of Pokemon Of course this is just my personal preference. I've just bought Pokemon moon and have been loving it as well. All Pokemon games have pros and cons, partially what makes them greater than each other is from what you do in the games.
-
Honestly I'll have to give it to Gen VII. Love the pokemon designs, the region, and the music.
-
Gen 3. Simple, clean and a tonne of postgame to explore in the Gen 1 remakes.
-
Gen 3. Kept all the good things from the first 2 generations and added more also didn't have cheesy pokemons either

Gen 3, had my favourite pokemon and enjoyed exploring the hoenn region, as well as Battle Frontier. I'm only halfway through sun but it might end up surpassing Emerald as my favourite.
-
Gen 4 had the gold remaster I loved and was the second pokemon game I had.
-
I still gotta go with the originals. I still remember going through 100+ ultra balls on zapdos and then catching it with my last normal pokeball.
-
Each generation is just the previous one but more, I always answer with the newest one.

Second Gen had lugia <3
