  • The video is a very good, real-world explanation of why Destiny is the way it is and why (to some) it looks like Bungie is "doing nothing" and "doesn't care". In short, This is a game what was developed to run on obsolete hardware (XB 360, PS 3) with networking that is rapidly becoming obsolete (P2P) trying to solve a problem that no one else had ever tried to solve. To create a new kind of game. A game that attracted players from across the entire spectrum of gaming, who want (at time) diametrically opposed things from Bungie and from the game. ...and there is nothing they can do that is going to keep everyone happy. ...and somethings that are wrong with this game simply aren either fixable....or would be cost-prohibitive to fix in a game that no one will be playing next year.

  • I mean, I would agree with that, but the devs have been making terrible decisions that leave everyone upset since year 1.

I mean the one decision they made that upset me ever was the treasures microstransaction and that's it.

  • Because this game has attracted such a wide ranging group of gamers who want incompatible things from the game. So when you can't make decisions that please everyone, you try to make the ones that piss off the fewest.

  • But when you look at the big picture, Destiny is just a huge mess. From the start, the Destiny we got is simply not the Destiny that was advertised. Abysmal story and storytelling, sub-par PvP, and an all around lack of original content. But it was fun, because it was new. After vanilla, every patch and dlc for the most part was 1 step forward and 2 steps back. The quality of the content decreased noticeably. PvP overtime became a mess. Content was removed from the game or made obsolete. Then came micro transactions. Maybe not terrible yet but certainly a shady business practice and at the very least a slippery slope. Finally the overall ignorance and even arrogance of the developers is unbelievable by any standard, especially coming from Bungie who used to be fantastic... Destiny has been a downhill mess since before it even launched. Obviously the publisher shares some of the blame here, but IMO most of it falls on the developer because they signed on with the publisher.

  • Not a huge mess. I see company that took a HUGE risk to create a new kind of game....that has attracted a new type of fanbase that no one has any experience dealing with. One that requires you to have the expertise of both a company that makes the best FPS ....but also one that has the experience of a dev that makes the best MMOs and Action-RPGS (ala Blizzard). All things considered, Bungie's done a pretty good job with a problem that few companies would have had the guts to even attempt. Microtransactions? Here to stay. Videogames haven't seen a price increase in 20 years, despite ongoing inflation. If it weren't for DLC and micros, you'd be paying about twice as much for your games at the register. So the issue is whether you want a $60 game...and then get overcharged for DLC and micros that are OPTIONAL.... Or whether you want to pay $100-120 for everything in the intial outlay.

  • I can see where you're coming from, but we're just gonna have to agree to disagree. I played Destiny a lot, and I had some good times, but in retrospect I was always unhappy with the game. IMO Bungie promised something and miserably failed to deliver. Maybe my standards are too high, idk. Just my thoughts

  • They haven't done anything to warrant being judged this year.

  • Just like Bungie was in year 1? While Bungie didn't amount to much, I doubt Hello Games will do any better.

  • Honestly they're both awful but I see hello games at least making an effort. Bungie acts like they legitimately don't care about the game or the fans, and every update ever released has been 1 step forward and 2 steps back. Sometimes just 2 steps back.

Ubisoft didn't disappoint us this time unlike when they released Assassin's Creed: Unity and The Division

  • They pretty much killed the assassins creed series, which I loved. And the division was a joke. So I think I'll always hate them
